We’re very happy to let you know that Fenderfest is entering its third round and picking up momentum. This year, instead of just standing around admiring beautiful bicycles, we’ll be in the saddle riding them. The theme is “Camping.” Registration will open on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 6:00 PM Central European Time (CET) on the Meerglas Frameworks website: /fenderfest-round-3, or find the link in our bio ☝🏽! Fenderfest is intended to be a festival for everyone who loves beautiful bicycles. That’s why it’s important to us to challenge and gently break up certain patterns. Our team is currently working hard behind the scenes to ensure that everything is in place, and registrations are expected to open around 16 March 2026. Winner of Best In Show at BESPOKED Dresden went to @meerglas_frameworks , judged by the 2024 winner @goodgrief.bike 🪅 Chris explained a little about his choice and what made him fall in love with the Meerglas frame…’A recumbent? At a handmade bike show? There’s taking risks in your work and art, and then there’s building a recumbent to show off to a bunch of bike nerds; next level. I met Meerglass last year and fell in love with the modern/vintage take of his rando builds that embrace tradition while low key pushing boundaries. The recumbent is the perfect example of this. The amount of detail, from the moto choke to lock out the shock under the seat, to the modified lugs used to construct the main tube are perfect examples of the modern constructeur they are. The raw finish left all details out in the open to breathe and dazzle. I knew from the second Thomas started chatting with me about it that he was as excited as I was. FENDER FEST N°2 — was a dream. In our view, the coziest, most relaxed, arguably most passionate & easily most stylish corner of cycling culture. The sheer volume of tandems was in itself an accomplishment. The dedication to classic randonneur aesthetic yet welcoming both but cutting-edge modern & curmudgeonly antiquated only added to Fender Fest’s uniquely quirky charm. Riders from far & wide brought their fendered whips to a relatively remote & certainly enchanting corner of Brandenburg, a stone’s throw from Bad Wilsnack: Groß Lüben. Thomas from @meerglas_frameworks moved back out here after years in Berlin and is enthusiastic to show what his backyard figuratively & literally has to offer. We arrived Friday in time to join a nearly 20 years running local concert festival, showcased our @bilenkycycleworks in the show Saturday morning & returned Sunday AM to join a sublime 60km group ride before catching the @europeansleeper back to Amsterdam. Seit über 50 Jahren baut @jpweigle Fahrräder in Connecticut/USA. Die Grundlagen des Handwerks hat er in England gelernt, vor über 20 Jahren hat er französische Randonneure für sich entdeckt. Sie haben ihn nicht mehr losgelassen. Peter Weigle gilt als einer der wichtigsten Rahmenbauer für diese eleganten Maschinen. Mit dem "French Fender Day" hat er sie in den USA gefeiert und ist damit Vorbild für Tom von @meerglas_frameworks und sein „Fenderfest“, das in diesem Jahr zum zweiten Mal stattgefunden hat. In Groß Lüben bei Wittenberge haben sich Ende Mai über 100 Menschen getroffen, um das schöne, praktische und zeitlose Fahrrad zu feiern und gemeinsam Urlaub in der Prignitz zu machen. Der Gast mit der weitesten Anreise ist Peter Weigle gewesen. Unter einem Kirschbaum in Toms Garten haben wir ein Interview mit Peter aufgezeichnet, in dem es um sein Leben als Rahmenbauer, seine Entdeckung des Randonneurs und die davon ausgehende Faszination, den French Fender Day und über den Atlantik hin- und herfliegende Inspirationspfeile geht.
