5 Years Ago, I Pivoted.
May 29, 2020. The day I got laid off. The day everything changed. The day my daughter turned 11.
I’ll never forget it, not because I lost my job during a global pandemic, but because that same day I made a promise to myself, “Her birthday will never be remembered as the worst day of my life.”
Instead, it became the day I chose to bet on myself. To take a leap. To pivot.
With no steady paycheck, no health insurance, and no clear roadmap, I decided to build something from scratch, fueled by fear, faith, and the fire to create a better future for us both.
Fast forward five years and I’m still standing. Still creating. Still building.
The full-time entrepreneur life ain’t for the weak and I’ve had moments where I didn’t know whether I was coming or going. But every step of the way, I’ve been grounded in that promise, and in my why.
So today, I’m not just celebrating 5 years of entrepreneurship. I’m celebrating the moment I reclaimed a painful day and turned it into something powerful.
Happy Birthday to my why, the reason I keep showing up, even on the hard days.

Last year I had the honor of being selected to document Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett swearing in day. Thanks again Troy for the referral! I spent the entire day with family and closest friends. I witnessed their love and support, and noticeably, the pride they had for her. They believed in her.
Too often black women are disrespected and nothing is done about it. Disrespect in the workplace is more common than most care to admit, especially for women in positions of power. That “seat at the table” hold little to no value to them. I commend Jasmine for standing her ground and not allowing the disrespect to continue. She is exactly what this nation needs. She is for us!

Last week, I was referred for videography gig for local children’s author, Derrick Jakolby Washington. We had the amazing opportunity of documenting a reading of latest book “A Special Little Girl” for a special group of kindergarteners. This book follows the journey of Zyion, an energetic, fun loving 10-year-old living with autism as she discovers that being “different” isn’t a bad thing.
To my fellow entrepreneurs out there, what you’re doing is important . And how you brand yourself and present it to the world is vital to your success.
