The seventh annual Student Research Conference at MCPHS, themed “Curiosity to Care: Building Pathways into Healthcare Careers,” featured nearly 200 student presentations addressing a range of healthcare topics. Students researched natural disasters, artificial intelligence, and GLP-1s, delving into personal and academic interests in the process.
“We’re inspiring our students to persevere and be passionate about their education and their research, and to continue to build their careers,” said Emma Borkosky, President of the Student Advisory Board for the Center for Research and Discovery.

In just over five months, MCPHS students created five technology-based solutions for community health centers across the state. On April 11, students pitched their ideas, marking the end of the inaugural Hack the Health Gap Innovation Hackathon, hosted in partnership with the Massachusetts eHealth Institute, part of the @masstechcollaborative .
“We created something that is tailored to the patient’s situation, which builds trust and encourages them to use it,” said Hang Bui, MBA ’27, one of the hackathon participants.
Students researched, developed, and created functioning digital health tools to tackle a variety of challenges both patients and providers face, like food insecurity, diabetes management, and prior authorization processing.

At this year’s Capstone Business Plan Competition, students proved doing business can be fun. They used props, puns, and even puppies to help their pitches stand out.
“We’re excited to showcase not just the amount of effort we put into this project, but that this idea isn’t theoretical,” said Rachel Smith, PharmD ’27. “It could work in today’s world.”
In its 22-year history, the competition marked the start of several industry-changing businesses, including PillPack and EMO Health.
