This week we recognize our incredible Program Administrators as an essential part of our family medicine education team! From supporting postgraduate and undergraduate learners to keeping everything connected, you’re not just a piece of the puzzle – you make it complete!
As our planet warms, the threat climate change poses to our health grows along with it.
Myles Sergeant is an assistant clinical professor with the Department of Family Medicine and the co-lead of PEACH Health Ontario. Nicholas Kates is a professor with the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences and the department’s Planetary Mental Health Lead.
In our latest “Fly on the Wall,” Sergeant and Kates discuss the intersection of health and climate change, and what steps are needed to combat this growing threat.
For their full discussion, visit our #linkinbio.

🙌 Connecting with McMaster Family Medicine colleagues this weekend in Blue Mountain for our annual retreat was cup-filling!
Thanks for the thoughtful conversations on topics ranging from indigenous healing, social accountability, community preceptorship, academic promotion, and the new generation of medical learners. I especially enjoyed discussing the intersection of education, health system design and the role of medical associations! ✨

Meet Amanda Ramdyal.
Ramdyal is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University — and a proud Mac grad whose path has come full circle.
Her early placement at a street youth clinic sparked a passion for advocacy, women’s health and sexual health. That moment shaped everything that followed: her clinical practice, her commitment to trauma‑informed care, and her dedication to supporting resident learners.
“Residents are becoming our colleagues. If we can advocate for them – for their learning, for their well-being – we all learn together. We build collaborative environments instead of burning ourselves out,” says Ramdyal.
To learn how Ramdyal incorporates trust and connection into teaching and patient care, visit our #linkinbio.
“Office Hours” is a series that features extraordinary Health Sciences faculty members on a deeper, more personal level.

“They took me for all of me.”
There’s no single path into Family Medicine.
In this MacFamMed Moments, Dalia reflects on a non linear journey—studying abroad, graduate training, becoming a parent—and finding a program that embraces the whole person.

Why Family Medicine?
For some, it’s the variety. For others, it’s the relationships.
In this MacFamMed Moments, Dalia shares what drew her to Family Medicine and why “soup to nuts” visits keep the work interesting, meaningful, and rewarding.
