🐙 Here’s my piece for Tattooed Mom’s Birthday Celebration Art Show on April 24th 🍻🎉🎂 I tried to incorporate everything that makes me think of that wonderful place. All of the fun experiences I have had there and all of the friends that I have made, or met up with there. Sometimes there aren’t enough octopus arms to showcase all of the delicious food and drink options, but I got the major players. I also wanted to pay respects to friends of mine who have tagged or stickered up the joint. If you don’t know, Mom’s is a mecca for street art and artists of all kinds. At Home and in the Studio with Artist and all-around Good Human, Jim McHugh I first discovered Jim’s art (aka @mcillustrator ) on Instagram of all places. His artwork always caught my eye, featuring illustrations of some of my favorite musicians, actors and iconic spots around Ocean City, New Jersey like the Wonderland Ferris Wheel, Strand 5 movie theatre and Rookery. I eventually bumped into Jim in real life at @anchorrockclub during a pretty epic @deadmilkmenofficial show which began the start of a beautiful friendship based on our mutual love of music, film, art and cats. The best way I can describe Jim is a mix of Mr. Rogers, Bob Ross, and @thejeffbridges The Dude blended into one which is exactly the kind of person the world needs right now. Jim’s house is a great reflection of himself and art. I enjoyed getting to capture Jim in his home with his wonderful and adorable black cat, Pip. After enjoying some tasty sounds of @khruangbin and @nationoflanguage , Jim and I headed over to the Ocean City Rookery where Jim got behind the lens for some birding. It was a pretty perfect day. The quote is from Roman Holiday but the image is from Funny Face. Audrey Hepburn was a big advocate for UNICEF and helping children. In 1989, she was appointed a Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF. She stated that she was grateful for receiving international aid after enduring the German occupation as a child, and wanted to show her gratitude to the organization. ⛑️ It’s hard to not feel hopeless right now. It seems like the world is being overrun with anything but sweetness and decency. I hope that we can get back to it one day, I’m not sure what it will take. 💔 I’m so saddened that Eight & Sand is closing their doors after 9 glorious years in Woodbury. I was there on opening day, eagerly welcoming one of the first craft breweries to the area at the time. Eight & Sand had an impressive variety of brews right out of the gate and they kept that quality of deliciousness up to the end. I am so proud to have been a part of their legacy by making over 50-something labels for them! They were always open to my creative and sometimes wacky inspirations. I love the whole crew and wish them the best in what comes next. 🍻 @eightsandbeer I heard another brewery is taking over the place, so the beer will keep flowing! But Eight & Sand is not closed just yet, so go and visit them while you still can, and tell them you know the guy who designed many of their cans!✌🏻It me.

Happy Cinco de Mayo! 🪇 Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken for Mexican Independence Day—the most important national holiday in Mexico—which is celebrated on September 16, commemorating the Grito de Dolores (“Cry of Dolores”) in 1810, which initiated the Mexican War of Independence from Spain. May 5 is Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. 🇲🇽 Anyway, the point is, keep being a rebel. Don’t let them bring you down. Keep your independence and your reward is tacos. 🌮

May The Fourth Be With You! 💫 Here’s to Greedo, that wonderful weirdo! He’s always been one of my favorite Star Wars characters. He looks like the ideal alien for his time and place. 🔫 I would love to see a prequel movie starring Greedo as sort of a James Bond spy/bounty hunter. He would get into all sorts of danger while blasting his way through the galaxy. Happy Earth Day 🌎 I have been intrigued by Earth Day since I was a kid. The concept helped me to be aware of the impacts we all have on our Mother Earth, as individuals and a collective. We’re all in this together, this is our home, and when you really wrap your head around that perspective, we could live in harmony with each other and our planet. One can dream, at least. 💚 The World tarot card is about completion, integration, accomplishment, & travel. It represents an ending to a cycle of life, a pause in life before the next big cycle beginning with The Fool. 🦤 🐢There are several mythologies of a world-bearing turtle or tortoise. Happy 420! 💨 I made this Wolf Skull Heart Wizard and posted him last year for the Holidaze, so I feel like he’s my personal mascot for the day. ❤️‍🔥 Maybe every day! He’s following his heart and that’s the best way to start. Oh no, I’m not trying to rhyme. Where was I going with this? Oh sheesh. I blame the skull. 💀 Not the one in the artwork, my own. But maybe the one in the illustration represents something deeper? Nostalgia? Mindfulness? Maybe. It’s really up to your interpretation. But the wolf, that’s definitely the guide to keep you on track. 🐺 Whew, see. Now we’re back. Oh no, didn’t mean to rhyme again! Enjoy the day, my friends! ✌🏻
