Back to film. Back to the Holga. Back to Kentmere 400 and processing with Rodinal. I missed all of it — the simplicity of making the image and the complexity of bringing it to life in the processing.
The film ended up at least two stops overexposed (forgot my ND filters), so I had to pull process it and make my best guess. Somehow, it all worked out.
And that little black dot? A bee passing through the frame.

This week families lined up all over again for the grand reopening of one of Barrio Logan’s most legendary spots. Regulars. Workers on lunch breaks. First timers.
Because places like this become part of people’s lives.
You can feel the pride in these photos. Everyone working nonstop. The trays coming out hot. The next generation stepping in. La patrona sitting there watching it all. Quietly. Proud. Resilient.

Nature’s chaotic symmetry always pulls me in — the way the new slowly takes over the old. Black and white seems to reveal that even more.
I’ve also been really enjoying editing with Photomator lately. It makes it easy to bring out exactly what I’m looking for in an image without overcomplicating the process.

More fun with the Holga plastic lens. A little window light, some white cardboard, and a tripod did the trick. Even with the ISO cranked up, it was worth slowing things down a bit. I’m really enjoying the imperfect look this lens gives.

Lately I’ve really been enjoying using a Holga plastic lens on my Fujifilm X-T2. I love how imperfect the images feel—the soft vignette, dreamy focus, and all the little flaws that make each frame unique. Just playing around the house with it this morning reminded me why I enjoy experimenting so much. I may even have to try capturing some color images with it one day.
