Subcultura Curation invites you to a special screening of ASCO: WITHOUT PERMISSION - @ascofilm here in Barrio Logan!❤️‍🔥 Join us Friday, June 5th as we close out the final weeks of ¡VIVA LA RAZA! with a film honoring one of the most groundbreaking Chicano art collectives of all time. ASCO challenged the art world, Hollywood, media, and cultural representation through performance, photography, activism, and radical creativity — creating work far ahead of its time that still echoes deeply today. This screening feels especially meaningful within the spirit of Viva La Raza and the conversations around memory, resistance, visibility, and cultural preservation happening throughout the exhibition. Come through for a night of film, community, archives, conversation, and reflection. More details coming soon. 🎬 ASCO: WITHOUT PERMISSION - @ascofilm 🎟️ Tickets dropping soon 📍 @thewoosd - 2212 Main St. SDCA 92113 🗓 Friday, June 5 ❤️‍🔥 Part of the closing month of ¡VIVA LA RAZA! #ASCO:WithoutPermission #filmscreening #barriologan #vivalaraza

The Queer Chican@ experience - curated by Betty Bangs, Bucky Montero, and Paulina Lara featuring archival materials from Lambda Archives of San Diego - including materials documenting the history of Las Hermanas Women’s Cultural Center and Coffeehouse, a space that stood at the intersection of Chicana feminism, queer community, and cultural resistance in San Diego. These primary sources illuminate a chapter of local history that has too often gone unacknowledged, centering the voices and organizing legacies of queer women of color who shaped the region’s broader liberation movements.

THIS WEEKEND Viva La Raza: Reflections on San Diego’s Chican@ Movement is a multigenerational exhibition presented by The Woo in collaboration with Subcultura Curation in Barrio Logan, one of San Diego’s recognized cultural districts. Opening Saturday, April 11, 2026, the exhibition is inspired by the resistance, cultural pride, and community movement surrounding Chicano Park Day and will be on view throughout that weekend. Part of the exhibition highlights the Queer Chican@ experience - curated by Betty Bangs, Bucky Montero, and Paulina Lara featuring archival materials from Lambda Archives of San Diego - including materials documenting the history of Las Hermanas Women’s Cultural Center and Coffeehouse, a space that stood at the intersection of Chicana feminism, queer community, and cultural resistance in San Diego. These primary sources illuminate a chapter of local history that has too often gone unacknowledged, centering the voices and organizing legacies of queer women of color who shaped the region’s broader liberation movements. Through visual art, archival materials, photography, and storytelling, Viva La Raza brings together multiple perspectives retlecting the history, culture, and creative spirit of San Diego’s Chican@ community. The exhibition also features Aztlan Archives as a central historical anchor, a community-led photography exhibition by Manuel Ceniceros and All For Logan, and a solo presentation of new works by BRISK ONE. Together, these elements highlight both the legacy and ongoing evolution of the movement in San Diego — and the essential role that queer Chicanx communities have played in it. The exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the histories, cultural contributions, and creative expressions that continue to define and inspire the region today. Open to the public. April 11-27, 2026. The Woo, 2212 Main Street, San Diego CA 92113
