After releasing my first coloring book, so many people were asking for a boys’ version and I was already in the process of creating it.
I’m so proud of myself for continuing this journey and building something that truly matters.
This is bigger than a coloring book… it’s legacy 🌱
My mom was a reader/creative , and she always spoke life into my brother and I .
In my own way, I’m continuing that through creativity, through these coloring books and Rooted for Impact 🤎

my very first coloring book — is HERE!
I’ve been working on this for a YEAR. Every page, every affirmation, every curl and coil is rooted in love, purpose, and legacy.
This coloring book is deeply personal. It’s dedicated to my mom the original root of my confidence. Her strength, love, and words helped shape the woman I am today. And now, I get to pass that confidence on to the next generation of girls the way she passed it to me.
As an author , mental health and wellness professional , my mission is simple:
To plant seeds of self-love, joy, and identity in every young black girl who picks up this coloring book.
To remind her that her hair is beautiful. Her voice matters. Her confidence is sacred.
This is more than a coloring book.
It’s a movement.
A legacy.

I don’t have the right words right now—just a heart that aches in ways I never knew possible. Losing you feels unreal. You were so excited about me starting my doctoral program . It hurts knowing you won’t be here physically when I become Dr.Dezell. I know you’ll be embracing the journey with me in a divine way. I’m so happy I gave you your flowers while you were living on this side . I’m forever grateful for that! 💛 I will miss your voice, your beautiful smile , your wisdom , your warmth, and your love that made everything feel okay. I don’t know how to do life without you, but I do know that your love is still here, surrounding me, guiding me, holding me up when I feel like I’m falling apart.

Quarter 1 looked a little different for me this year. I took a mini hiatus…..and honestly, it was exactly what I needed.
During that time I slowed down, leaned into things I love, and focused on living life a little more intentionally.
• Ran 2️⃣ 5Ks • Reached 50% completion in my PhD program 🎓 • Finished my second coloring book @rootedforimpact_ • Started exploring new things and getting back into my wellness routines
•Became a brand ambassador for The Doux • Built new “Honey Habits” 🍯 small daily practices that help me show up as my best self
More than anything, this season reminded me that growth doesn’t always have to be loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, slow, and intentional.
Grateful for the space to learn more about myself, trust God’s timing, and focus on what’s meant for me.
Quarter 1 was calm, intentional, and full of quiet progress… and I’m excited to see what the rest of the year holds.

Black Girls of Texas — aka BGOT — popped out and SHUT IT DOWN! The whole block was watching, snapping pics, and yelling “hey, pumpkin head!” every five minutes 😂
We didn’t just show up, we showed OUT for our first-ever Pumpkin Head photo shoot — and the vibes were top tier! From the laughs to the looks to the after-hang, it was nothing short of legendary ✨
Big love to all the cousins who signed up and showed up — y’all really made it a moment! 💕

When I created this coloring book, I wasn’t just thinking about crayons and pages. I was thinking about the little girl who once looked in the mirror and didn’t feel beautiful… because her roots didn’t look like what the world praised.
Roots of Confidence is more than a title , it’s a promise.
It’s about planting seeds of self-love early.
It’s about letting our youth see characters with coils, curls, crowns, and confidence.
It’s about reminding them that confidence doesn’t come from the outside , it grows from within.
Just like sunflowers, when their roots are strong, they bloom boldly. 🌻
