dreams upon dreams
grateful for working with the land and being surrounded by such loving people. i love cooking. i love bugs. i love my body touching grass.
Cooking is a spiritual practice. It’s a transfer of energy from one to another. What I come back to again and again on this path is a requirement of cooking from a whole place. Cooking from a grounded place. Cooking from a loving place. You can always tell from the food that energy is the key ingredient. I’ve reached burnout many times and know that what I am looking for exists- a space where I can nourish others while nourishing myself. So in the interim. I rest. I feed myself. I pray. I let the ocean cleanse the heat from my body and let time wash over me until it signals to start again.

Two extraordinary chefs @mayaaharrison & @fresh_fit_chef . A long table. Shared plates. Strangers turned friends. This is what community tastes like 🌿✨

Recent dinner @theecologycenter with guest chef @chefbrianbornemann from @crudo_e_nudo !
This was one of my favorite dinners, highlighting Brian’s mission of sustainable seafood and our seasonal farm produce. We fed a sold-out dining room with three cooks and a flame! I love this work and am grateful to learn from such excellent chefs.

A visual love letter to working with food.
Working on a culinary team is one of the biggest gifts of my life. Giving me social and spiritual nourishment while teaching me to appreciate something as ephemeral as a ripe strawberry. Cooking is sharing light. Each dish is an energetic exchange between soil, sun, body, heat, and time, acting as a social glue between communities and land. I’m so grateful to learn this craft of transforming earth’s gifts into edible art.
returning to my family is a return to self. resting. unfolding. praying. thanking spirit. feeling my dad’s presence. adorning myself in sand. sitting with my abuelita. reconnecting with the food that raised me. meditating on my mom saying, “whenever you feel discouraged, remember you come from this salt water, this land is you.”
November. How limiting is it to believe we can only achieve intimacy through romance? We live in intimacy. It’s the space between the sun and your skin. It’s hearing your friend’s voice who’s on the other side. It’s my sister’s knowing when to call. Or my mom offering me papaya. Love is everywhere.
