WE WON!!! One of the most meaningful projects I’ve been a part of just got nominated for a 2025 Immersive and Interactive Peabody Awards! “Cleared by Fire” is an interactive documentary from The New Yorker that puts you inside the events of November 19, 2005, the day U.S. Marines killed 24 civilians in Haditha, Iraq. No one has yet to be held accountable. Our team Maxx Berkowitz, Sonny Cirasuolo, and Benjamin Guignabert provided spatial engineering, design, and NOWHERE.io platform access to help The New Yorker’s Interactive Department tell this dynamic story as a deeply poetic interactive narrative held in a complex easily accessible webpage. The result allows you to occupy and gives the feeling of being in the story from different perspectives, from a survivor’s account to a Marine’s account. Their stories are very different and in the gaps you start to piece together what really happened. I’ve spent my career building experiences which bring the audience inside the story. This project is proof that the same tool we built for connecting humans at conferences, concerts, and virtual events can also serve journalism to deliver greater empathy, truth, and accountability. I’m Proud to see our names in the credits alongside this extraordinary team. And deeply honored by the Peabody nomination. Great weekend getting back to @syracuseu to be a Motion Graphics coach for @pixelsandprint again. I love getting to dive into a meaningful 48hr whirlwind project with the next generation of designers to build out branding, website and promo materials for a local non-profit. Thanks to @saltcityharvestfarm for being a wonderful client doing amazing work, and spending time to work with us and trust us to make something special for them. And of course thanks to @renee_stevens @profkenharper and all of @newhouse_vis for inviting me to be a coach again.
