Some spaces just feel different.
Not louder.
Not bigger.
Just more intentional.
Lately, we’ve been spending a lot of time studying what truly makes a space feel calm, grounded, and emotionally connected the moment you walk in.
The future of luxury isn’t excess.
It’s experience.
It’s how a home makes you feel.
Warm lighting.
Natural textures.
Quiet moments.
Spaces designed to slow you down.
We’re taking everything we’ve learned through Maxwell Developments and evolving it into something much bigger.
A new chapter is coming.
One focused on wellness, connection, hospitality, and beautifully intentional living experiences.

These photos just resurfaced from a project we completed a few years ago.
When we first saw the building, it was in rough shape.
Significant disrepair.
Around 20% occupied.
Most of the community avoided it.
It had a reputation.
But underneath all of that… there was an opportunity.
Not just to renovate a building,
but to rebuild something people actually felt connected to.
We didn’t do it alone.
We invited the community in.
Local artists helped transform the spaces.
Musicians brought life back into the courtyard.
Neighbors got involved, shared the vision, and helped spread the word.
It wasn’t just a renovation… it became a movement.
Slowly, the energy shifted.
What once felt empty started to come alive.
People felt proud to live there again.
Connections formed where there were none before.
What was once avoided became something the community embraced.
That project changed everything for me.
Something shifted.
Seeing the impact we had on so many people… it stayed with me.
It wasn’t just about the building anymore.
It was about creating places that actually improve how people live and feel.
That’s what I’m drawn to now.
We’re now working on something new.
More intentional.
More refined.
Built around how people actually want to live.
A new chapter is coming.
Let’s talk about builders process. 📈

Bringing incredible ideas to life requires the perfect team, and it’s always an honor to collaborate with visionary clients who value quality and craftsmanship as much as we do.
This project was a proud milestone for our team at Maxwell Developments, and we’re deeply grateful to have been the contractor of choice. I was visiting my family in Australia with my daughter, Roca, when this issue of Spruce was published, I didn’t get the chance to share this moment until now.
To our amazing clients and everyone who contributed to this project — thank you for making it such a rewarding experience. It’s a privilege to transform dreams into beautiful realities. 🙌🫶🤙
At Maxwell Developments, we believe a home should be a sanctuary—crafted with intention and guided by what brings you peace. There’s a unique harmony that arises from thoughtful design, where clean lines and natural textures invite calm into every corner. We work closely with you to uncover the elements that bring ease and clarity, creating a home that not only reflects your vision but uplifts your spirit each day.
We built this house back in 2009/10..My cousin and I moved up out of our hectic building lives in Sydney and spent 2 years living in the bush, surfing, building, fishing, exploring the mid north coast.
We had a demo party and salvaged a lot of the materials to help build us our shack. We were to live in the shack while we built our house. Hardwood so hard to had to pre drill for every nail. It was 2 small bedrooms, a mattress on the floor with a mozzie net, a kitchen bench that we salvaged from a Reno job in Sydney, and a small outdoor shower.
Dinner every night by campfire, fresh fish was usually the go. Up at sunrise, down at sunset.
No tv, no smart phones, barely any internet, I would use an international phone card and have to drive to the shops pay phone to call Natasha in Canada (my now wife @wildoakcreative
While on our journey back to Oz this year, I saw our property on airbnb. It has been surreal to come and stay back in our old home, relive some of the memories and make some new memories with our new family.
This is such a special part of the world and I can’t wait to show Roca all there is to experience here.
Lots and lots of planning and decision making.
From there, we dig, we build, we create the clients vision.
Rough ins starting shortly. A huge thank you to our team putting in the hard yards 🫶🤘
