You don’t need a special occasion to book a session. Most of the families I photograph in Victoria aren’t celebrating anything specific. They’re just aware that time is moving, and they don’t want to miss it. That awareness is enough. You don’t need a milestone. You just need a moment. < ps, I’ll also get in the shower with you and risk my cameras getting wet for your photos. That’s how much I care about your moment, dedication mhmmmmšŸŽ–ļø> #VictoriaFamilyPhotographer #VictoriaFamilyPhotography #showersessionvictoria #VancouverIslandFamilies

*Trigger warning- miscarriage, grief and loss * Some of the stories I’m invited to document are filled with joy and elation. Others carry grief, waiting, and loss. Being trusted to step into those spaces, to quietly witness and document a story that isn’t mine to tell, is a profound honor. Brittany and Blake’s path to this birth was shaped by miscarriage and heartbreak, by hope that had to be held gently. As Brittany said, ā€œpregnancy doesn’t always mean baby.ā€ Today I’m sharing a piece of their story with their permission, maybe to provide hope to anyone who has walked through infertility or loss and wondered if joy might find them again. Witnessing baby L’s arrival and the relief that followed for his parents will forever be one of the most meaningful moments I’ve ever had the privilege of documenting in my career. Sometimes the most beautiful beginnings are the ones that take the longest to arrive. Sending love to anyone carrying both grief and hope, you are not alone šŸ’• #victoriabirthphotographer #vancouverislandbirthphotographer #victoriabirthvideographer #vancouverislandbirthvideographer #birthvideographer

mom & daughter sessions will always hold such a special place in my heart. the daisies are out and I only have a few sessions left while they’re blooming 🌼 there’s something so meaningful about documenting this season before they grow into a whole new version of themselves. the way they hold your hand, the little giggles, the way they still look at you like home. if you’ve been thinking about booking, this is your sign šŸ¤

I regret not booking a session like this. At the time for me, it felt insignificant, even mundane maybe. But now I realize you truly wake up one day and your baby is gone. Save this for inspo for your next tub sesh 🫧 #victoriafamilyphotographer #honestmotherhood #bathtubsession #cowichanvalleyphotographer #sidneyphotorapher

I used to photograph what I could see. Now, I photograph what I know I would miss. Becoming a mom shifted everything for me, the way I notice, the way I anticipate, the way I hold onto the smallest details. Because it’s not the big moments that slip away, it’s the smallest ones. And those are the ones that matter most. I have a handful of motherhood film sessions left for summer. If you’ve been considering one, I’d love to connect, send me a DM- my website is under construction šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Currently taking a business course and quickly realizing… I didn’t start this business for SEO, analytics, or any of the backend stuff. I started it to capture moments & to freeze time in a way you can feel and return to. But it turns out running a business is… mostly business šŸ˜‘āœŒšŸ¼ So I’ll be over here frying brain out, trying to absorb it all. In the meantime, here’s a little bit of the part I love most šŸ¤ (two very beautiful humans, in very beautiful light) Anyone else just love how running a business is 95% everything but the thing you started it for? šŸ¤˜šŸ» #victoriafamilyphotographer #victoriabcphotographer #yyjfamilyphotographer #vancouverislandphotographer #victoriabcmoms

You don’t need perfectly behaved kids for a beautiful session. In fact, I prefer when they’re not. Some of the most meaningful images come from movement, emotion, unpredictability. Kids being kids-curious, playful, even a little wild, that’s where the real photos live. If your biggest hesitation has been ā€œmy kids won’t cooperate,ā€ I want you to know… they don’t have to. I’ve built my entire approach around that. (And shout out to these adorable clients always up for the most epic adventure sessions!) #VictoriaFamilyPhotographer #VictoriaFamilyPhotography #cowichanvalleyphotographer #VancouverIslandFamilies

My lunch is burning so I don’t have time for a cute caption but happy St. Pattys day, especially to every parent who forgot like me and didn’t send their kid to daycare wearing green. šŸ¤˜šŸ»ā˜˜ļø

Someday, when you look back at these years, what will you want to remember? How everything looked? Or how it felt to be there? Photos hold a moment so beautifully. But film lets you return to it. That’s why I started motherhood films. Now booking spring + summer 2026. #motherhoodfilms #motherhoodunplugged #documentarymotherhood #vancouverislandphotogrpher #motherhoodstory

I had a little memory pop up this morning while scrolling through my old galleries, thinking about how much I’ve learned and grown since one of my very first paid sessions. A mom reached out asking if I could photograph her 3-year-old’s birthday party… in a gymnasium šŸ˜… I was so nervous. I stayed an extra hour for free. Drove across the city to hand-deliver her photos on a USB (and then drove back again a few days later, no questions asked, when she decided she also wanted black and white šŸ˜‚). I’m pretty sure she paid me $40 and a piece of birthday cake- and honestly? I was absolutely stoked. So much has changed since then (thank goodness… yikes šŸ˜‚), but it really does take time to find your rhythm. Every awkward beginning, every free hour, every ā€œlearning on the flyā€ moment matters. My number one piece of advice for anyone starting out: get out there and shoot as much as you can. Create sessions just for fun. Follow what feels good. Keep experimenting. And slowly, you’ll discover what truly lights you up. And if it’s wild kids driving plastic cars in a gymnasium, all the power to ya šŸš—šŸš—šŸš—
