I made an app for bands! 🎸 bandana . I’ve been forcing @larrytheband to use it and it’s been a game changer. Way easier to coordinate schedules, keep track of song info, manage set lists (including answering the question “do we open with this song too much?”), circulate practice recordings, and even brainstorm covers. . It’s basically f$&!ing awesome and if you’re in a band, or even play solo and want a better organizational tool, you should totally use it and help me beta test this thing! . There are still some kinks to work out before I list it on app stores, but I’m making it better every day, and if you help me test it now… 1) I will literally build features for you 😘 and 2) you won’t ever have to pay for it 🫶 . There are far too many ways that musicians get exploited these days, and AI is making almost everything worse for bands right now, so I wanted to build something that gives back to the community and implements AI for music in a way that’s actually helpful 🦾 . A maj7 contains a note that is one tone lower than the route, giving it a sense of hopeful dissonance. It straddles the boundary between what is considered to sound light/joyful and what is considered to sound dark/unsettling. The new @larrytheband album is full of these sounds, and we made the strategic choice to both start and finish the EP on the same exact chord: an Amaj7. . When we finalized the arrangement for California, the last song on the EP, I decided to get this chord in ink on my right forearm. It’s both a memento from the EP and a reminder that often what we’re looking for in life can be found right where we started, at the beginning. . This EP documents a long journey in 24 minutes. And it would mean the world if you came on that journey with me, giving it a thoughtful listen, and letting me know where you find meaning in it 💜 . I love this race so much I wrote a song about it 😍 . Last year, I raced the @nyrr Bronx 10 mile, which was my longest distance at the time. It was my first full year running regularly, a sport that has changed my perception of myself in all the best ways. . Fast forward a year later. Today, I beat my time from last year’s race alongside a bunch of friends and family (shoutout to @chels0_123 and @mikedrop__fitness who cheered me on at the finish line 🫶). . When I started writing Valentine ave with @larrytheband , this race was on my mind. It’s a reminder to always strive to be the best version of myself, and that loving yourself is the best thing you can do in life. . When this song kicked in on my playlist at mile 5 today, it was the best motivation to finish the race strong 💪 . Give it a listen pals! Very proud bandleader over here 👋 . @larrytheband just released our first single! (link in bio) . I wrote the words for Valentine ave during a difficult time. I had just been laid off from my job and was struggling to figure out what was next for me. But, when I needed an outlet, the band was there to help me through it by allowing me space to express myself in this song 💙 @mizellc @ilvi1 @imdb_13 @alechutson . Running was also a major cathartic release for me during this time. While writing the lyrics, I drew on the feelings that running pulls out of me, and threw in plenty of running metaphors and imagery throughout the track (s/o to @upperwestsiderunclub for encouraging this latest obsession of mine 🏃‍♂️) . Lastly, I want to thank @johnshakespear_ for helping us to bring this song to life with masterful engineering and endless creative ideas 👏 So excited to keep partnering with him on the rest of the EP that’s deep in the works! .
