There aren’t many things that bring as much joy as playing with my friend @mobrowne at @lincolncenter • On this particular occasion we were in the spot for two days for the S3 Poetry Festival. Bread Upon Water 🌊 Out everywhere, now. It was so wonderful to have the chance to produce this EP of works by @officiallycy set to music. “The people gon fuck around in people til ain’t no more people” 🌾 Cyrus Aaron is a special talent that I feel so lucky to know, be close to, and collaborate with. From the very first gig we ever did together he immediately went on the short list of people who will always get a “yes” from me when they call. And that is because I believe in him, his art, and his care for those around him. When Cyrus tapped me to be a part of his first EP, he got that same immediate “yes”. I believe in his art, I believe in collaboration as artists, and I believe in creating a sound with intention behind it. 🌱 🪴 “A hurricane DeSantis brewing in every state” 🌲“One hand on God, two feet in the grave” 🌿“We gully with the genocide” 🍃“The irony of our differences is that our differences get ironed out. This is the third project that I’ve ever taken on in the capacity of producer and I’m extremely proud of the sound and message; And I’m proud of the community and trust that was built in the process. 🌾 I’ve been feeling uneasy about the way I’ve been using social media for some time now. There was a period where I was enjoying trying to play the game of the algorithm and find success in my numbers. Ultimately, I’m unsatisfied. And what’s worse, I’m distracted. I’m at a point where, at least for now, my social media has to serve attempts to create and not the other way around. It’s not like I have some insane number of followers, but there’s enough of y’all here that I feel a little community- I love that. As this page progresses to more selfishly serve artistic endeavors of mine, I hope that you’ll stick around to see what’s up.
