I was so energized to join 30+ women leaders and activists from around the world as we lay down on the grass alongside a busy Sandton road in protest against GBVF on the eve of the G20 summit. Later, I got a chance for a photo with one of my heroes, Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, founder of African Women's Development Fund, which since its inception, has supported nearly 2000 women's rights organizations and feminist movements–including the anti-GBV nonprofit I chair.
My family used to go to “the Reserve“ often when I was a child. Until my father got banned for taking out more crayfish and perlemoen than permitted. A lot more. That was the end of the Reserve for us. I've been back several times as an adult, but only as a tourist. This summer I rediscovered the place as a local. What a great place to swim, hike and take photos. Things I've been doing more of these last lazy days.
