Film Directors Enzo Tedeschi & Chris Broadbent debuting their feature film @itwillfindyoufilm with a Q+A session @cinemanova | definitely interesting to see an aboriginal horror film in Australia. These are the kinds of films I’d like to see more of in Australia; where the stakes are life & death. The biggest thing to mention is that lead actress @kylahjday did an incredible job and delivers a striking performance. Check it out if you get the chance. #featurefilm #horrorfilm #australiancinema

Filmmaker James Litchfield debuting his feature film @alphabetlanefilm @cinemanova | A feature film that looks at the nuance of long-term relationships, the psychology of moving locations & the psychology of lying. An easy-going meditative drama. Congrats James for the film release !

Filmmaker Q+A session with Mick Connolly, director of ‘Hands up Who’d Like a Hug’. A feature film part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2026. This is a real family comedy film which is lucky cos I saw it with one of my sisters. The storyline is pretty ridiculous which means there are definitely funny things to laugh about. I thought the girls had quality acting in this film. Always happy to see locally produced films & even better to meet the filmmaker behind the films!

In the last weeks I’ve seen 9 French films with my friends & sister, mostly due to the French Film Festival. Among these films are: - [ ] The Stranger - [ ] Guru - [ ] Dog51 - [ ] Sirat - [ ] The Richest Woman in the World - [ ] The Count of Monte Christo - [ ] Time Masters - [ ] Nouvelle Vague - [ ] A Nun in the City The general quality and level of intrigue was higher than expected. I only regretted the Nun film which I shouldn’t have seen. My top picks are The Count of Monte Cristo, Dog51 & Guru.

My grandfather Harry is sadly dying and will be dead soon. He is 95 & from the other side of the world so has come a long way. He endured WW2 raids, immigration to Australia, 4 children, 8 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren. The enduring lesson he gave me on life was when I was very young he asked me if I liked working. I hesitantly gave a contemplative response imagining what working thru life would be like. He then told me it was very important to enjoy working, because we do a lot of it in life. Thinking and praying you have a good transition to the here-after, whilst you’re still here Harry 🙏🏽

My top-10 films of 2025 (in no order) : - [ ] Smashing Machine (USA, Dir. Benny Safdie) - [ ] 国宝 / Kokuho (Japan, Dir. Lee Sang-Il) - [ ] Два прокурори / Two Prosecutors (Ukraine, Dir. Sergei Loznitsa) - [ ] Together (Australia, Dir. Michael Shanks) - [ ] พระแท้ คนเก๊ / The Stone (Thailand, Dir. Arak Amornsupasiri & Vuthipong Sukhanindr) - [ ] Sinners (USA, Dir. Ryan Coogler) - [ ]A Complete Unknown (USA, Dir. James Mangold) - [ ]The Running Man (UK/USA. Dir. Edgar Wright) - [ ]Avatar: Fire and Ash (USA, Dir. James Cameron) - [ ]September 5 (Germany, Dir. Tim Fehlbaum). I went to the cinema on average once a week, yet sometimes 3 or 4 times a week. I happily saw a variety of films from around the world, including films when I was in several different countries. My top-10 films this year includes productions from the USA, Japan. Germany, Ukraine, Thailand, The UK & Australia. This is from mostly a single viewing yet I’d be keen to watch most of these films again in the future. Two Prosecutors is the most difficult watch because of its pace & subject matter but feels very rewarding in its historic portrayal. Some of these films are more viscerally entertaining such as The Running Man & The Stone, some are more artistically satisfying such as Kokuho & A Complete Unknown. Two different yet worthy reasons to sit down & enjoy a film at the cinema (or at home). I am biased this year for personally knowing two of the filmmakers from this top-10; yet I can’t shake the incredible amazement of these mind-blowing films made! ~ there were other great films that didn’t make my top-10 for the reason of having my personal top-10 of 2025 movies what it is! ~ but here are another 10 social mentions: - [ ] One Battle after another - [ ] Caught Stealing - [ ] Nosferatu - [ ] The Brutalist - [ ] Roofman - [ ] Frankenstein - [ ] Weapons - [ ] Eddington - [ ] Warfare - [ ] After the Hunt Also a special mention is the Dario Argentina retrospect Profundo Russo / Deep Red that I saw on the big screen at The Astor Theatre. And a very special mention to Interstellar that I saw in a Chiang Mai cinema for the 10th anniversary of this absolutely extraordinary film. #cinema
