BIG NEWS: AQUIRING THE
@zurichfilmfestival
Today is a very special day for my partners, my family and myself. A true milestone, and one I am deeply humbled and honored by.
Together with my business partner and friend Christian Jungen
@chjungen , Festival Director of the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF), and our new partners Reta Guetg (ZFF Vice Director), Felix Müller (longtime ZFF President), and Marek Skreta (finance expert), we are officially taking over the Zurich Film Festival from NZZ.
I have had the privilege of serving as one of the festival’s main hosts for over ten years. It has always held a special place in my heart. I grew up watching Hollywood and international films and, truthfully, learned English through them. I have been part of the film industry as an actor for 22 years, and more recently as a producer alongside my wife.
Zurich is my hometown. This city has shaped my life, from childhood to my early days as a VJ on VIVA SWIZZ, and later hosting MusicStar on Swiss National TV. Zurich and Switzerland have always been a source of deep pride for me.
To see how this city by the Limmat has developed one of Europe’s and the world’s most respected film festivals is remarkable. Over the years, the green carpet has welcomed some of the most iconic filmmakers of our time. Being part of this journey has been an honor.
Now becoming one of the owners is a responsibility I embrace with full commitment.
Together with my partners, the incredible ZFF team, our dedicated volunteers, and the filmmakers and guests who bring this festival to life, our goal is to take the festival to the next level. From my base in Los Angeles, I will focus on expanding our international reach, deepening ties within the global film industry while visiting Zurich several times a year to create new alliances with partners.
Thank you to Christian for believing in me, and to Reta, Felix, and Marek. We are from Zurich and we do this for Zurich.
A heartfelt thank you as well to NZZ for trusting us with this remarkable institution. And to Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri for founding the festival and giving me the opportunity to be part of it so many years ago.
Let’s rock.
