So the story goes that when I was born my parents just couldn’t decide what to call me - (I was almost “Boy” DeVincenzo) Luckily someone was prepared and the nurse on site suggested “Ian-Maxwell” as my name. My dad said no - they’ll make fun of him.... they’ll call him IMAX. Well, now a film I worked on, as Music Editor and Additional Music Composer (“High Gravity” - Max DeVincenzo), is being shown in IMAX theaters only this month. It will be the first time I see my name on an IMAX screen... So maybe the nickname would have been okay after all. Girl Climber is showing nationwide (including Nashville and Denver) with additional music written by Boy DeVincenzo, in IMAX, on August 24th. I’m so grateful to the team involved, especially Mark Crawford, the composer for the film, who brought me on board. And I’m honored to be a part of sharing this incredible story about rock climber Emily Harrington and her perseverance against gravitational and societal forces as the first female climber to free-climb the Golden Gate route on El Capitan in under 24 hours. Full Circle is now Emmy-nominated for outstanding long documentary in The 45th Sports Emmy Awards. (Music Editor - Max DeVincenzo, Fox Tracks Music) We’re honored to be involved in this deserving documentary about adaptive sports athletes and the path of growth after trauma. It’s a truly beautiful film. I recorded John Hollier (@johnholliermusic ) during my road-trip through music cities in the US before I moved to Nashville. I remember setting up the mics for the recording and after hearing how much force he had in his voice moving the vocal mic back farther.. and a little farther. Needless to say he blew me away with this song, his voice, and his professional musicality. I learned a lot about Nashville during our interview together and it became one of the reasons I moved to this bountiful city. Thank you John.
