Our piece for @treefortfest 2026! An homage of sorts to the hip hop energy that led us into this life of mural painting. The music, skateboarding, graffiti.. they all ran together in a colorful tapestry of people and experiences that formed the foundation on which the Sector style is built. Thank you to all the artists involved this year and everyone who stopped by the wall!
Keep your approach simple and always be open to learning! I had a really fun time creating this piece from scratch. I did my best to rely on my eyes to put the pieces in place. I feel like painting is comparable to building a big ass puzzle. You know it’s going to take a while but it’s totally worth your time invested and your brain feels whole upon completion. We had an opportunity to paint some local history last month, stoked on how it turned out! Lincoln declared Idaho a territory in 1863, creating a path to its future statehood. The construction of the Arrowrock dam (seen on the left side of the wall) and the New York canal system ushered in a wave of agricultural development in the Treasure Valley. Much of the original growth in this area stems from the use of these waterways, which remain vital to this day đź’§
Remover of obstacles and a patron of arts and sciences, Ganesha’s being has intrigued me for quite some time. I first painted a rendition of this figure back in 2017 (slide 2), that had a very loose aesthetic. Fast forward 8 years and it’s fun to see the progress made with this newer rendition. As an artist, I do try to push myself technically and stylistically which is somewhat evident in this piece. This one definitely had its challenges as I was painting this in my spare time over the past 6 months or so. One thing about taking your time is it allows plenty of opportunities for “fresh eyes”, resulting in a finer tuned product. Also, I’m incredibly grateful for clients with patience and trust! I truly enjoy the process of creating portraits. When I first started painting realism I tried so hard to make every square inch of the painting as exact as the reference I worked from. Over the years I’ve realized that I enjoy keeping things loose and grimy and punching in the details where necessary. Not everything in life is always in your control, just follow your brush strokes, build the layers and things will turn out quite alright. Thank you to all who support or appreciate the work I put out into the world, it means a lot!

TreeFort 13 was a dam good time to say the least. Had fun rockin this still life titled, “Light as a Feather” with my boi @elmstatus . The intersection between music and painting has always intrigued my brain. It’s crazy how much inspiration can be found within a collection of old classic records. Also, Blobby Brown is a huge fan of Chick Corea and all things jazz. Big ups to the festival, Artfort team, artists, creatives, musicians and community who made this year a memorable one!
