Beyond stoked to have a photo published in the 2025 Dig Book! It was selected as a Runner Up in the Dig BMX Photo contest for 2025!
The photo itself is of Bro @leer068 jumping over my nephew Van up at our local spot, The 068 (funnily enough named after issue 68 of Dig BMX as it was the Trails issue).
We’ve been buying Dig BMX mags since the mid 90s and they inspired me to study Photography at University. Crazy to think that 30 years later we’re actually in the freaking magazine! @digbmx
An absolute highlight of life! Hopefully we can inspire further generations to keep dreaming and riding!!!
Well. Today will be remembered.
As time goes by I’m not as mesmerized as often. But today was like being a kid again. Watching my nephew Van shred with some of the most inspirational yet grounded bmxers of our time brought me back to the late 90s/ early 00s. @leer068 and I got to ride with the likes of Joe Rich, Ruben Alcantara, Van Homan and Garret Byrnes.
Now we get a full circle moment but it’s all new and fresh.
That’s what BMX is! Community, stoke, no fuckin ego and just pure joy.
Thanks @backbonebmx for shutting down Braddon for us!
Can’t wait for tomorrow!
I am the Australian Mountain Bike Photographer of the year! 🍾🎉🥳🎈🎊
Very happy to share that I’m the overall winner of the 2024 @australianmountainbike photo awards. 🏆
Im super stoked to take out the title this year and be able to finally share the winning photos with you! 😍
I’ve been sitting on a couple of these for months now and it feels great to release them into the world. You can see them in print alongside 9 pages of details, stories and insights in the @australianmountainbike issue that just dropped today.
But, for now, here are the images.
Gravity: self portrait in a secret spot at night.
Adventure: @lgnyla on a quest to the stars.
Women: @tillyboadle with the best No-hander ever.
Xc Whoa: @nayjunga & @grantallenbikerider battling!
I’ll be dropping the next episode of RooRoo Tv with a behind the scenes look at my self portrait, fun fact: it took 4 days of digging and experimenting to get right…
ATTENTION mountain bike photographers. The AMB Photo Awards presented by @shimanoaustralia are back for 2026, and submissions open in under a week.
Entries open May 11. If you’ve been shooting this past year, now’s the time to dig through your photos and pick your best work. The shots that stick usually speak for themselves. This year’s judging includes former AMB Photographer of the Year, Matt Rousu.
Don’t leave it late. Entries close July 12.
For more info head to photoawards.ambmag.com.au (link in our profile).
One of the best trails seasons ever…
Time to dig!
Also, pretty sure I’ll just make iPhone videos now, it’s way easier than taking photos 😂😂😂
Thanks crew.
Very happy to get my 4th magazine cover. This time it’s with @cyclistaus ! It’s always great to see photos in print. Inside the mag there are two epic articles that @karl.with.a_k wrote about our trip around the backroads of Porepunkah, joined with @paulvanderplow , @viotto777 and thanks to @ridehighcountry
I’ve done a lot of this type of shooting with Paul, but Karl and Em hadn’t done much of this so it was a funny trip learning on the go. Let me tell you, it looks easy but it’s certainly hard to make it look that way 😂
We shot breakfast, lunch and 2 dinners in between a couple of local businesses and about 150km of riding. I’d have to leapfrog the riders in my car to get the shots, they never stopped riding so I had to find the right locations and get the shots first try.
The dining shoots are just as fun “you can hold your food but don’t chew, have a drink but not at the same time as the others.” Now you can eat your food that’s gone cold 😂
It’s a really fun way to work and connect with like minded people, can’t wait to do some more of this soon.
Pick up a copy at your local newsagent!
Rest in Peace Sue 💕
My first conversation with Suzanne was in 2016 to tell her that I was going to marry her daughter. Leighann and I were in Nepal and I’d already proposed at the Everest View lookout a few days earlier. As the phone rang, I was terrified, but after getting the news out I quickly realized I had nothing to fear, there was laughter all around and I felt a very calming presence almost immediately…
A few months later after a few more phone conversations, Leighann would tell me that her mom could barely understand a word I say because of my Australian accent, maybe that’s why that first conversation felt so reassuring, haha.
But over time, after I’d slowed down my speech cadence, we became friends. We met face to face for the first time in 2017 and Leighann and I would endeavor to fly to Canada every year for a holiday to relax at the cottage with her and other Lannen family members. We’d sip Lipton ice tea while watching Leighann stand up paddle board on the lake and listen to the lunes sing while reading by lamplight, stormy the cat not too far away from her lap.
Just over the US border in Fort Kent I’d walk down to Al’s to get some onion rings and fries (not the curly ones) and we’d watch Nathan Fillion shows back at her place. Relaxed conversations about traveling and how to make eggless Ployes.
We shared a unique bond in that we both loved the same person more than anyone else, her daughter, my partner. Over 11 years it brought us closer together more than I realized.
Every time Leighann and I flew back to Australia we’d hug and Sue would whisper in my ear, “take care of her”.
Knowing full well that Leighann could and would take care of herself we’d both smile at the inside joke between us as we’d part

Portraits of MTB Nationals.
I have to thank everyone for letting me get up in their faces with my giant camera. I know it’s annoying. But, I also know these moments in time are the most precious. Success, failure, joy, sadness, frustration, elation and emotions you may have never felt before. You’re all amazing!
Once again, thank you.
Final day of the 2026 MTB National Champs.
A wholesome day of fantastic XCO racing! I always enjoy figuring out the puzzle of where to shoot each lap and how far I can get out on course while still being able to get back to the finish line. 🧩
I pretend to be a biathlon ski racer, sprint to a spot with my rifles (cameras), slow my heart beat to set up a nice shot with both cameras, shoot the riders as they come flying through the forest and then sprint to the next location. 🎿
It’s super fun and makes me feel more involved with the race itself, I always get a kick when the riders mention “how the hell did you get here so fast?” 🤖
Another huge day of shooting, 2500 photos, edited and delivered around 230 last night. 8:00am start - 1:00am finish. Sustainable? No. Unforgettable? Yes! Let’s do it all again in 2027!!!
So many stories from the 2026 DH National Champs! New champions, repeat winners, flat tyres, redemption rides, tears of pain and tears of gratitude were shed mere metres away from each other. It was hard not to get caught up in the emotion of it. Thanks for letting me be a small part of it ❤️
Nats Day 2
Diet Mountain Dew is a fitting song for today. Something like 8 xcc races today and I hiked a lap and a half of the DH to get some quallie conditions photos. It’s always a shame that DH quallie is at the same time as Elite XCC, there’s a great story of the week that gets missed because of it. But we do what we can and I’m always happy to shoot the country’s best mountain bikers. Super fun day behind the lens.
