So happy to be included in ā€˜Micromania’ an exhibition between @kalkman.maastricht and @liminal_gallery in Kalkman Gallery, Maastricht. The show includes over 80 artists from across the world who contributed works under 10cm (squared or cubed). I love miniature things... The world’s so full of ā€˜things’ and making art feels kinda guilty sometimes, adding more objects to it. This was an opportunity to think about small being powerful, and meaningful. Lots of artists shown together, making small, intimate works feels so good in that context. My work in this show is ā€˜Furrowed Lobe’ made of reused cloth and wool stuffing, and a freaky little plaster face (sneak peek pictured). I smocked her furrowed skin/covering, and she props up on a little woven hand. Micromania is open 14th March - 12 April, so please go by if you’re in the vicinity. Or follow the works online: @micromania.maastricht lots of lovely work to discover. #smallsculpture #art #textile #smocking #miniature

Berenice, Manifold In ā€˜Strings Attached’ at @pipelinecontemporary which continues until 1st November Photo credit: Jack Elliot Edwards Parts from some writing on the stories-book-object that was the impetus for the work: I imagined echoes of Poe in the narrator-protagonists. Sad, neurotic men, their uniqueness hinging upon a questionable relationship with a beautiful (monstrous) woman. Cold pale moons watching something more alive. … Each woman is many; objects of obsession, desire, disgust and fear. But they are these all at once somehow. They live, dwindle, die, and live again.Ā  If they are objects they are seen from many sides. If they are objects they are dissolving and proliferating.Ā  In Fini’s hands they are given portrait and scene. The sad boy watching disappears. Their edges firm up and bleed out again.Ā  They grow great wings and tail feathers of cloth. Their bright wet eyes hold yours.Ā  Somewhere between text and image, passed hand to hand over a hundred or so years, they have air in their lungs.Ā  Skin on bones, Teeth spilled, out of a box, and on to the floor.
