Graphic designers @corbinmahieu and @mathieuserruys collaborated to create the new visual identity for Liège-based architecture studio @atelier.chora_architectes They aimed for something sober, straightforward, and visually playful with the idea of spatiality. The name Khôra (or chora) refers to the space that provides a place for being. Inspired by this concept, Mathieu and Corbin translated the idea of space visually through three black squares, forming a graphic field to play within. Inside these three squares, Atelier Chora can place text, images, links, or other content. The shapes, imperfect squares, are based on grids inspired by the atelier’s architectural work. The designers sought a balance between playfulness and simplicity. Alongside their more expressive projects, they enjoyed creating something aligned with their minimalist sensibility. Since Atelier Chora wanted a tangible way to present their new projects, the designers developed a folder where all photos or sketches can be torn out and used as postcards. We starten het jaar met toeters en bellen: de nieuwe website van rekto:verso is een feit! En daar zijn we trots op! Er is een gloednieuwe lay-out. Die zorgt ervoor dat artikelen online dezelfde visuele zorg krijgen als in de magazines. Leescomfort en toegankelijkheid staan daarbij voorop. En ook kijken en luisteren zijn voortaan een plezier.  Daarnaast biedt de website nieuwe mogelijkheden. Je vindt er een vlot doorzoekbaar archief van meer dan 3.800 publicaties, een agenda met wat op stapel staat, rubrieken en dossiers, een handige blik op onze verdeelpunten om snel tot bij je favoriete tijdschrift te geraken, een overzicht van alle magazines, een auteurslijst die je toont wie sinds 2003 voor rekto:verso schreef, en nog veel meer.  Ook de nieuwsbrief zit in een nieuw jasje. Die ontvang je wekelijks op vrijdag met een overzicht van nieuwe publicaties en evenementen.  Deze lancering is het resultaat van een lange voorbereiding. Daaraan werkten velen mee, die we hier willen bedanken: vrijwilligers, (oud-)redacteurs, stagiairs, en niet het minst @ine.meganck en @mathieuserruys , die voor de vormgeving en de ontwikkeling van de website instonden.   De nieuwe website is een mijlpaal voor rekto:verso. We brengen er, net als in de magazines en tijdens live-evenementen, cultuurkritiek die er toe doet: breed en diepgravend, kritisch, meerstemmig en speels, toegankelijk en uitdagend, en zonder betaalmuur (maar steunen mag).
