100% electric camper van with our 3D printed interior installed.
We are now capable of small series production thanks to some insane engineering by Joep Cuppens and Ege Calay, M.B.A Calay.
We got an amazing opportunity from a van builder in the U.S. who believed in our vision to drastically simplify the manufacturing process for van interiors without compromising on design, quality, or serviceability.
Here are the facts on this interior:
🪶 3D prints weigh 250kg. We helped shave 700kg off the total build.
👷 Installed in 1 day by 2 people (after post processing and test fits)
🔧 3 tools needed for install: rivet gun, allen wrench, drill.
♻️ All 16 pieces can be removed, shredded, and reprinted 4 times.
📏 No tape measure needed. Self-indexing and self-aligning parts.
🖨️ Modules printed: Upper cabinets, ceiling, l-seat, lower storage, and all window/door trim.
Interior #4 is printing now with fewer parts and a new material. This one goes quicker, stay tuned!

If you want to nerd out even further on the future of manufacturing, imagine this: you walk into the Materialogic studio and sit down with a designer who has the mass-customizable CAD model for your interior right in front of you. You drag different sliders and immediately see cabinets resizing, patterns from nature emerging on surfaces, and countertops raising and lowering. You're happy. You press print. A few days later you come back, pop the interior in yourself or have one of our technicians do it. All over a good cup of coffee.
When you have put the interior to good use, we will print you a fresh one when you are ready to sell or customize.

Imagine picking up the keys to your rental camper van and it's interior is uniquely adapted to your lifestyle whether you are into surfing, biking, hiking, or digital nomad-ing. That's what mass-customization allows for!
We designed this with the life cycle of the interior in-mind. If something gets damaged or old we can pull the module out, shred it into pellets, and re-3D print a new module.

It was an incredible 6 month experience being apart of @motionlabberlin Hard-Tech Accelerator Program! With the help of a stellar team and support from the MotionLab community Materialogic was able to win the crowd vote on Demo Day thanks to @jildoumatty outstanding pitch performance! And the 3D printed camper van seen in the pictures below were installed with not a minute to spare by Joep, my co-founder.
