“Two Girls At Play”
16x20”
Oil on panel
Sold 💗☁️🐈⬛
A painting that took me a little less than 2 months and a lot of my patience. I spent so much time taking her on and off the easel, feeling frustrated and unsure. She spent a lot of time in the time out corner.
But regardless, this piece is one that is very special to me, and I’m sure can be felt by many others. It’s always amazing to be able to paint something that feels healing and joyful. I think the world needs more joy and kindness at the moment.
So, here are two girls at play 💗 Scroll for some progress photos, and before (and after) I packaged her up for her new home! Safe travels my friend!!
And the FRAME!! Gorgeous!! Exactly what it needed. Thank you @masterworksframes !
Painted on @ampersand_art Primed Smooth panels as always ⭐️
I have 2 prints of this one left on my website :)

We don’t just remember moments—we replay them.
Time Channel is a term I created to describe what happens when memory stops being linear and becomes a loop. A rewind. A tape we keep playing even when it no longer serves us. And sometimes, the only way forward is to let the tape go.
In this painting, she is not sad or happy—she is suspended. Caught in the quiet space where time loses its meaning. Because repetition doesn’t always come from pain; sometimes we return to joy, to love, to meaning… until even those memories begin to blur and we become lost inside them.
The composition draws from a Leonardo da Vinci study, grounding her in a timeless visual language. Her body tilts slightly off balance against the horizontal bench, creating a subtle tension—like she is slipping into another dimension.
Circular patterns echo through her dress, reinforcing the idea of cycles. Beneath the black-blue lace, color is restrained, almost withheld, except for the atmospheric dappled tones in the background and skirt—like fragments of memory breaking through.
In her hand, she holds a pendant: a clock. Only the numbers 12 and 1 are in focus. The rest dissolve, suggesting time has fractured. She is no longer moving through it—she is inside it.
The chain becomes metaphor. Not just jewelry, but tether. A quiet symbol of being bound to a moment that will not release her.
She is time-bound. Memory-bound. Loop-bound.
And still.

THE STORY:
This painting is deeply personal—part of a journey I’ve moved through at different times in my life. The title comes from my friends’ band in Norway that inspired me, @rikkeknudsen_atelier@aldeloner
It echoes Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night—a story of darkness transformed through love and acceptance.
That exact story isn’t mine. What stayed with me was something quieter, but just as powerful—the presence of light within darkness.
There were moments in my life when I sat in solitude, unsure if I would find my way through. Yet somehow, I always did.
A spiritual friend once told me I have an angel who comes in over my right shoulder—bringing energy, protection, and guidance. He said she is a female presence who watches over me. I call her Mary.
The light in this painting comes from that place.
The figure is not in despair, and not untouched either—she exists in that in-between space of someone who has moved through something and come out the other side. Her strength is quiet. Her presence, steady.
She reflects parts of me—her coloring, the red lipstick I always wore, even the clothing from my past. This piece carries memory, protection, and the quiet knowing that even in darkness, there is light.
A woman who has already walked through the darkness—and no longer questions whether the light will find her.

This frame from @masterworksframes is perfection. Shipping “Intermezzo” out tomorrow to the @steamboatartmuseum for the @oilpaintersofamerica 35th annual National exhibition. Honored to be amongst so many fabulous painters. Come see it starting May 29 in Steamboat Springs, CO!
Love the @masterworksframes for my painting Nimue. Michael is a wonderful artist and has a great eye for what frame works best for your painting. I had a phone consultation with him. He was a pleasure to work with. Sue, his wife is also an artist and the correspondence months in advance was professional. They answered my concerns regarding which frames would look good together, the design, and the cost of the shipping as I ordered 4 frames from them for my May exhibition @rehscontemporary . I highly recommend them and I’m so happy with the four that were selected.
I’ll be revealing those when it gets closer to the exhibition May 15 4-8pm opening with an extended opening Saturday, May 16 from 12 to 5 PM. Stop in and say hi. I will be there both days.

The exhibition explores solitude as a singular state—something stripped back, almost bare—but also deeply transformative, even restorative. Not loneliness, but a return. A reckoning. A quiet becoming.
Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, has always stayed with me. Not just as myth, but as a presence—watchful, self-possessed. In one telling, she seals Merlin away. Not out of cruelty, but out of knowing. Out of choosing.
This piece holds that moment.
She stands at the edge of decision—caught between release and restraint, between who she has been and who she’s about to become. The water offers no answers, only reflection. And sometimes, that’s enough.
The palette drifts through a hazy summer—soft, luminous, almost deceptive in its calm. Because beneath it, there’s tension. A quiet reckoning.
It’s that familiar question, the one that doesn’t let you look away:
Do I stay… or do I walk this road alone?

Part 1: Last September a Latter-day Saint congregation in Gran Blanc Michigan was brutally attacked during Sunday morning services. Four people lost their lives, many more were injured, and the building was burnt to the ground.

As our gallery community considered what we could do to serve the grieving congregation we decided to contribute via the thing we do best, world class portrait artists and frame makers. Each of these pieces have been gifted to the next of kin of the victims.
—-
We extend our love and prayers to all those affected and we will continue to create and platform work that encourages thriving interfaith relationships and peace building.
—-
Thank you to each of the artists/craftspeople that donated their their time and talents and to Bishop Schaub for helping coordinate the delivery of the pieces.

Took some photos with “To Love Someone Small” before she was packaged and shipped to her new collector 💗 What a sweet little painting this was!! And the frame was just perfect for her.
Have a lovely Sunday to you all!! It’s stormy and quiet here, and I am deep in the bowels of my closet in the studio organizing all of my shipping boxes. Because I refuse to throw away a perfectly good box!
Prints of this piece are in my shop as well 💗

Covenant, 20x16 inches, Sold. This piece is a return to past subject matter for me, a painting of a past red tailed hawk I had for three years as a falconer. The Hawk, named Sargent for obvious reasons, was a particularly special bird. 🥹 in this painting, he is sitting on a perch wearing a traditional falconry hood. When properly trained and fitted , a hawk will welcome the hood. Sargent loved this one. I’ve named the painting Covenant as a reflection of the agreement made between falconer and bird: each work together to reach a common, mutually beneficial goal. ❤️ Swipe to the end to see some flashback photos of us.
The collector loved the look of the arched frame
