In 2013, the philanthropist Maja Hoffmann established LUMA Arles, an institution designed by the late Frank Gehry that is now a global cultural powerhouse and a laboratory for artistic, scientific and ecological innovations. And it’s just one part of her far more ambitious vision, she tells Donatien Grau in #Mastermind19.
“LUMA’s project was based on the idea that art cannot change the world, but that society must take artists’ ways of thinking into account, and that artists are not there just to decorate. Artistic creation is one thing, but it’s creative thinking that interests me more,” she says.
