Join MAP, @genderjusticephilly , @comitephilly , and others on Monday May 4th for the opening event of Masc Ally Month 2026! RSVP required, registration link in our bio. ---- As is true across all systems of oppression, women, trans, and, gender non-conforming immigrants (TGNC) face unique challenges based on their gender identity. From the decision to leave one's country of birth, to experiences in the U.S. labor market, immigration systems, and society at large, immigrant women and TGNC people face risks and challenges not shared by their cis-male counterparts. For this reason, gender must be part of the conversation about immigration. Join Gender Justice Fund and the Masculinity Action Project for a conversation on the intersection of immigration and gender justice. Speakers: Sara Giraldo, Immigration Attorney Nati Nicastro, Coordinator, El Comité de Trabajadorxs de Restaurante Jaya Ramji-Nogales, Sheller Family Professor in Public Interest Law, Temple University, Beasley School of Law

This year for Masc Ally Month in May, we will be raising money to support @comitephilly , a grassroots organization doing amazing immigrant and gender justice work, primarily with restaurant workers. In addition to raising money, El Comité has requested support in a specific capacity - restaurant canvassing. Restaurant Canvassing is where we, in pairs, visit restaurants in a specific neighborhood (Old City this time) to work with restaurant owners and managers to create safety plans to keep them and their workers safe. It’s a two hour commitment from 3p-5p that will include training and materials! This is an on-the-ground, impactful way we can support immigrant and gender justice in Philly. After we will gather back for happy hour in Old City with the MAP canvassers and other canvassers that join us. Join us to take action and build community together! RSVP required, link on our bio!

Last month, MAP crossed the 1,000 follower milestone! Thank you for your support! As we continue to grow, we are never going to stop hosting events and offering spaces for anyone to join us in fighting back against the harms of traditional masculinity and to end sexual and gender-based violence. But we are also at a place where we are asking men and masculine folks who support our work, attend our events, or learn from our trainings to join us as MAP Members. MAP Membership includes 1) A commitment to support one of the projects lead by MAP this year with your time and energy and 2) A pledge to make a donation of any size to support gender justice work during our Masc Ally Month fundraiser this year. Will you join us this year as a MAP Member? DM us your answer and we will get you plugged into the organizing we have coming up!

We’re launching ROOTS & REGROWTH, a 6-week workshop series for men and masculine folks starting Tuesday March 3rd. This is a space for honest conversations about masculinity, stress, identity, power, relationships, and community. We’ll talk about pressure. We’ll talk about survival. We’ll build connection. And here’s an important part: You do not have to commit to all 6 weeks. We know that’s a big ask. Life is full. The world is heavy right now. If you’re curious, just come try one session. See how it feels. With everything going on, socially, politically, personally, it’s more important than ever that we take care of ourselves, our families, our communities, and our collective futures. We don’t have to do that alone. No lectures. No fixing. Just real conversation and community. Join us. WHAT: ROOTS & REGROWTH is a 6-week workshop series for men and masculine folks who want a real space to talk about life, stress, masculinity, relationships, power, all of it. It’s community-centered and conversation-based. And honestly, there’s no pressure to commit to all six weeks. If you’re curious, just come try one. With everything going on in the world, we think it’s important to build spaces where men can reflect, support each other, and strengthen our communities. WHEN: Tuesday March 3rd 7-8:30pm WHERE: Sessions 1-5 on Zoom Session 6 in Person (Location TBD) WHO: This space is for all folks REGISTER AT THE LINK IN THE BIO

Join MAP Monday on 1/12 for a discussion on connection, community, solidarity and how we can build our communities in the coming year. We'll be continuing to build off what we learned from Power UP, this time about connecting with people we don't immediately and easily agree with. Along the way we'll gett into asking and offering support and connection, the unlearning we have to do around masculinity and vulnerability, and taking some time to look at how to authentically build with new people. Join us Monday from 7-8:30p by RSVPing at the link in our bio.

As the year draws to a close, we are looking ahead to the work there is still to do in creating a feminist society. To build a world that works for us all - where no one is forced into a set of gender stereotypes that don’t work for them, where abortion is free and available to all, where people of all genders are given their worth at the job of their choice, where no one is scared to tell someone “no” and everyone knows to ask first… it’s going to take a lot of people! A dozen MAP members recently attended the training Power UP by Organizing for Power. On Monday, December 8, we will be sharing back a little of what we learned and then leading a discussion about how to apply those learnings to MAP and our other organizing spaces. If you want to get a taste of what this training offered and help apply the learning to make MAP a more powerful force in organizing for gender justice, be there on Monday, December 8 from 7-8:30 on zoom. RSVP using the link in the bio.

Embodying Our Values - a discussion to help navigate the challenging times we are in. This time of year, and the time it is on the clock of the world, can set a lot of us up to be engaging in stressful conversations. Whether you are about to be around family for the upcoming US holidays, or you are actively organizing for change and connecting to new people, talking to people who may disagree politically can be hard. Having those conversations in a way to builds connection and allows people to join our movements and groups is necessary. We talked last month about anger and how we can listen to it better and not be so scared of it when it shows up. Anger is just one emotion that may come up when having explicitly political conversations or being back around challenging family members. How can we stay intentional about our anger when it shows up in those moments? How can we stay centered in our values and act with intention even when other emotions are running hot or the stakes are high? What has masculinity taught us about dealing with disagreement? Join MAP Monday on November 17th at 7p-8:30p on zoom to get into the conversation with us. *Note new date this month, instead of second Monday we are meeting on the 17th.
