My mother has wanted to tell her story for 20 years. Her book has finally been published. As I’m reading it, I’m learning a lot about our family’s past struggles. I’m in awe of how my mother survived and forgave her parents and siblings for being heartless. Living and coming of age in war time and and immigrating to a country where you barely speak the language, you do what you have to do to survive and provide.
It’s through the struggles and sacrifices of our ancestors that have worked so hard to give us a better life than they had, that we are so fortunate in this modern country.
