Sickle cell disease is a genetic blood disorder that affects millions worldwide, and yet too often, the voices of those living with it are unheard. It took me two years after writing this poem to share it with the person i actually wrote it about. itâs a really personal and emotional one for me. This piece talks about the quiet strength she carries even when her body betrays her. This poem is not just about illness â itâs about endurance, love, persistence and faith.
