The album takes its name from phantasmagoria theaters, the 18th-century gothic spectacles where audiences gathered during the chaos of the French Revolution. Using candles, mirrors, smoke, and glass, artists of the era conjured illusions of ghosts and demons, giving birth to modern horror cinema and the special effects still found in theme parks today. More than entertainment, these shows were a place for people to process anxiety and grief during times of unprecedented upheaval

When it came to designing the vinyl, I wanted to include some of the ~*olde*~ phantasmagoria artwork that inspired the project.
The sleeve depicts a phantasmagoria theater in 1797 and the disc imagery come from an optical illusion and science journal from 1864 explaining apparitions and how our brain can create illusions.

The philosophy behind the project is inspired by the fools journey in tarot, the idea of adventuring into the unknown and rediscovering yourself and abilities.
