After moving to London just over three years ago to study filmmaking, I’m so excited to share my new showreel as a recent graduate of the 2024 BA Film Practice course at the London College of Communications. This showreel represents not only the projects I’ve had the privilege to be a part of—both during my studies and beyond—but also marks my own personal journey over the past three years in the capital.
Moving to London was a dream come true and one of the most rewarding choices I’ve made, yet it came with its own set of challenges. My first year here was spent adjusting to life in the city, forming new friendships, and balancing relationships with friends and family back home.
Coming from a small town up north, the shift to London’s fast pace lifestyle definitely took a hot minute to get used to. But with the support of family and friends, both new and old I gradually found my feet in a city that I now call home.
I wanted to share part of my personal journey because I remember feeling like I was the only one struggling to adjust. Over time, I realised I wasn’t alone in this—many friends who moved for university or for work felt the same way. My first year in London was full of incredible memories, yet I also had moments where I felt deeply isolated. Looking back, I wish I’d known that this feeling was normal, just part of the process of adapting to change.
As I’ve grown, I’ve come to understand that change is one of the few constants in life. Whether it’s starting a new job, moving to a new city, or traveling to a different country, change brings with it both challenges and opportunities, moments of excitement and moments of doubt. But these experiences shape who we are, and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity I had to move here, study a subject I love around some of the most talented people.
Change can be intimidating and overwhelming but you’re never alone in these feelings. To the people in my life who constantly show up for me, I am endlessly thankful.
Here’s to the next chapter, I look forward to what comes next 🫶🏻
