Announcing a new role as part of the Cancer Research Uk Information Review Panel.
I will be joining a team of experts by experience to ensure that web based information is accurate and accessible for those that need it most.
Well done Cancer Research UK for listening to and learning from the people who know.

Huge thanks to @icr_london and the AMAZING registrars doing the MSc in oncology. So blessed to have these wonderful people on the team.
I presented on 'Becoming with Cancer: A Rite of Passage' yesterday.
Made lots of references to the terror of the red thread: blood cancer.
Saw this book in a secondhand section, made me laugh.

Thank you Tate for invitation to special opening this evening.
Living MY second life. Fuck, he's got more lives than a cat!!!
Representative of the artists with cancer crowd, easy to spot in the mask!

Proud to have been involved as Lived Experience Lead in the production of this report.
Amazingly important work achieved by the community researchers across Brighton and Sussex.
The diverse voices of people with cancer are integral to better science, treatment and futures.
As people with cancer we are the embodiment of disease, we are experts.
It was a privilege to have @diversityresourceinternational present findings at PHARMAKON symposium last year.
Community based research methods empower not only the community but also scientists and medical staff.
Good research, health and wellbeing is collaborative.
Huge thank you to all involved. @diversityresourceinternational@sussex_cancer

+Boat of the Bloodline+
(A5 sheets aluminium oxide paper - series of 6) Markus Taylor 2026.
We are presented with the same basic drawing of a wooden boat applied to differing grades of aluminium oxide paper. Each action is disrupted to a greater extent by the roughness of the surface. Aluminium oxide paper would be used in the finishing of such a wooden vessel seen in the drawing.
With reference to Plutarch's question about the 'Ship of Theseus', and subsequent discussions by Hobbes and Locke, we may consider entanglements of body and memory, and what it means to be 'me' during perpetual processes of change.
As an artist living with a blood cancer, a death within marrow and the crimson thread of the labyrinthine vascular system, Markus is drawn to the stories of Theseus. Another vessel from mythology to consider perhaps is the boat of the ferryman Kharon which crosses the river Styx.
Boats suggest journey, exploration and also a return.

+Calle Incurabili: the Narrow Path of Cure+
Thank you to Anna and all at ICR London.
Thanks also to E❤️ for her support.
The narrow path of cure now connects @sussex_cancer@bsmsmedschool to @icr_london and on to Quebec, Canada.
Within the human body there are 60,000 miles of arteries, capillaries and veins.
Thank you to all the scientists, research teams and support staff working towards better care and cure for people with cancer. ❤️
Good to find an institution that is prepared to reflect upon what they write alongside works online and in gallery.
Researching some pieces by #beuys I came across some text accompanying images. This text included language describing shamans as 'primitive' and 'uncultured', amongst other derogatory language.
I pointed out this inappropriate language, highlighting Beuys indebtedness to shamanic complexity and the modern role of shamans in contemporary Siberian societies.
Many thanks to the team at National Galleries Scotland for their response.

Thank you to @uob_artswellbeing and centre for environment and society at University of Brighton for the symposium yesterday. So very interesting to chat with folk from different research disciplines on issues and engagements with 'land'.
Helping me to consider my research further on the sick land and the sick body: entaglements that matter.

Great to hear the word 'pharmakon' used in the lyrics on 'The Happy Dictator', Gorillaz new album 'The Mountain'.

+ 'Something's Rotten in the Arteries of Albion : Drink Me.' +
Markus Taylor. 2023
(Lab flask, red ink, treatment regimen urine.)
+ During nine months of first line chemical treatment for blood cancer, Markus had to drink litres of water to wash out all the dead cancer cells and the toxicity of drugs to protect his internal organs.
+ At home he had to use a separate bathroom to ensure his family did not come into contact with his toxic waste.
+ This multiple artwork was created during this period.
+ During this time the scandalous actions of the private water companies was hitting the news: raw sewage flushing into local rivers and the sea.
+ Therefore the toxicity of the artist's waste, as well as the medicalised effluence from everyone else on some form of treatment continues to flow untreated into our waterways.
+ Watch channel4 drama 'Dirty Business' from Monday.
