Had a lot of fun for a few days recording at @angelicstudiouk with the most splendid of all music and folks
The vintage Ludwig drums in situ with a bunch of snares from them, Brady, Noble & Cooley and trusty @dwdrums (of course)
Such a banging studio, it’s super comfy on site accommodation and superb gear makes things nice and easy! Highly recommended!

The other musos are some of the best ever (and some of my fave people on planet earth) and @mashupmartin is just A1 from top to bottom, inside out

More drums than I’d normally use, but the vibe was very specific on this one, this many drums is necessary for the brief. I felt like I’d been locked in a drum shop overnight and just created a monster out of everything in the shop. Vintage Ludwig (thanks @rustydrumsltd and @drumtechsupport !) was the order of the day, along with a bunch of vintage @zildjiancompany metals (and some newbies too). Heaven!!

One solid piece of solid maple, steam bent to create an iconic fat, doofy sound, with a little crack to it too. I’ve used this on so much stuff, old and new. It’s just so versatile and beautiful

Fun and games on drums for more film soundtrack bits at the brilliant @britishgrovestudios
A very specific sound was requested, so we used these @remopercussion Remo Ebony Emperor heads on a Gum/Maple DW drum set. The Ebony heads are not something I’d usually record with, but they use a slightly thicker film than is used for clear and coated Remos; a different construction of Mylar, they’re injected with black-pigment - you get a darker, punchier and more controlled ultra modern sound - which is what they were after! (Wow, I’m a geek)
Wonderful group of musicians, writers and engineers all assembled in one place. Splendid fun!

The master @zarvosmusic insanely good score helped it became Netflix’s most popular film ever with over 236 million views in no time at all
The recordings did very well - the song “Golden” by HUNTR/X got to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the soundtrack hit #1 on the Billboard Soundtracks chart

Last May, I was on a boat in Central London with my mate @simondias1 and we heard a distress call of a person face down in the river come in over the radio at Westminster Bridge. I wasn’t on duty with the @RNLI , but we knew we could help, so off we went
Thanks to Simon’s amazing driving I was able to get to her, she had no pulse and wasn’t breathing. I got started with CPR and sorted her airway. The Marine Police got there a few minutes later and I managed to get her connected on to a defib too
Long story short, got her breathing again and managed to bring her back
The Metropolitan Police saw fit to give us commendations for our off-duty work, a ceremony I got to take the family to, which was quite lovely
I’ve done plenty of CPR jobs with the lifeboat (not all of them have great outcomes) but this, as a civilian, hits differently
Without the training I’ve had over the years from my friends at the RNLI, (including @mayos_on_tour , @288markyt , @jamesinpics , @wreck_it_ralph214 and others) and the expert driving from Simon, we’d have lost her. We’re just standing on the shoulders of people who’ve helped us
Glad she’s still here - there’s lots to live for, folks
