with @offlicencemagazine ISSUE SEVENTEEN’s theme being ā€œSpaceā€, i took my long-running Culinary Corner series to Elephant & Castle, one of London’s fastest-changing neighbourhoods and a historically vibrant Latin American stronghold i’d always heard about the area being London’s unofficial Latin Quarter, but didn’t expect it to feel quite so real — Spanish as the default in places, families settled in for hours, spots that feel more like someone’s front room than a business really enjoyed getting my journalist hat on for this one, exploring how quintessentially Latin community spaces have been increasingly co-opted and transformed over the past decade of rampant change Elephant & Castle was designated an ā€œOpportunity Areaā€ in 2002, a phrase which is always good news for cranes and bad news for everyone else. it led to large-scale (and mostly luxurious) redevelopment, to the point where the local primary school had to close due to lack of children from coaching inns and old junctions to Colombian cafĆ©s, railway arches and disappearing shopping centres, this one traces how spaces form, who they serve, and what happens when they start to slip away…   as always big love to @gregstanley @brickcellphone and the rest of the Offie team for trusting me with holding down the Culinary Corner who would have thought i’d have gone from rating Rubicon and tonic wine to taking the microscope to Elephant & Castle, looking at how spaces are built, lived in, and slowly changed around the people in them get ISSUE SEVENTEEN from offlicencemagazine.com for the full article and so much more šŸ» photos by the very talented @nicoleham1

FROM THE JAZZ ISSUE — A READERS’ FAVOURITE. Spicy Mark returns for Culinary Corner, sipping and pondering the long-standing relationship between a music genre and a style of refreshment. Why do jazz and cocktails go together, anyway? From Harlem speakeasies to hi-fi pubs, from Rob Roys to olive brine, this one’s about balance, improvisation, and the strange human urge to keep stretching simple things into something transcendent. Words by @markobaloomusic . Photos by @gregstanley . Cocktails served by @alphabetbrighton . The full piece lives in print. šŸ“– Off Licence Magazine šŸ“¬ Print subscriptions available šŸ·ļø 26% off this January with code JANUARY2026 ā³ Sale ends Jan 31st

last of the looking back but 2025 was also the year i finally got back on my bike after 4.5 years out with health issues! if you knew me before i basically lived on the bike deliverooing and whatnot so this was honestly so god damn huge for me šŸ» went on so many outside adventures last year and been obsessed with documenting so it’s a shame not to share really determined to hold myself to making fun cycle adventure content this year. got some exciting multi-week trips in the making and gonna put effort into documenting everything on YouTube and all that jazz. HOLD ME TO THIS PLEASE SO I DON’T WOSS OUT!! - somewhere in Dungeness at the middle mark of a 200km adventure with @dgwhutton - para gliders after a run up to Devil’s Dyke on one of them prime winter sunny days - cow wanted the pic and i obliged - somewhere in North Wales with the lads and a truly outrageous view - smiley Nicole on a walk from Brighton to Lewes along those lovely South Downs - horses galloping in a field next to me somewhere near Fulking and Devil’s Dyke - outrageous sunset on the downs somewhere near Arundel in July. completely overcooked the route and ended up cycling back along the Downs in pitch black, was a hairy one but probably my favorite of the year as a result - pic from the time above - a pretty tasty view of the South Downs during a semi-accidental spring half marathon with @gregstanley - ring doorbell caught me arriving at the Bungalowā„¢ļø after a hot and sweaty Brighton to Hackney Wick where i also met a man called Neil while cycling up a big hill near Caterham - cows and sheep co-working at the top of the Ditchling Beacon, one of my all-time favorite Brighton views and a lovely start to a bike ride - bewaring of tanks while cycling across the Salisbury Plain to Stonehenge from Basingstoke in December - NicoleCamā„¢ļø during our marathon of walking along the South Downs Way in August - wondering what she got herself in for and dramatic Hampshire landscape in the background - rolling back towards Brighton at the top of Devil’s Dyke on a beautiful November’s day - rolling on the seafront path between Saltdean and Brighton :-)

lots to be thankful for in 2025. first overseas DJ gig (on a boat in šŸ‡šŸ‡· no less), first time outta Europe, finally back for a Brighton summer, had many wonderful times with friends, saw the flattest brioche of all time yada yada yada excited for the year ahead. feel something brewing within, forcing myself to get back into a creative headspace. more DJ content and gigs, get back to making music, and share some pretty exciting cycle adventures i’ve got planned around the UK and beyond. hold me to this god damn it!! - great pic by @nicoleham1 and an ever greater time in Tuscany - Shy FX vs Mas Que Nada on the Adriatic Sea courtesy of @offlicencemagazine , @velvetfestival , and @oblakodermagazin - myself and @tellmewachuwan after a b2b for the ages at Velvet - another b2b for the ages with @usherlavelle at @tasteof96 in Kings Cross, he teed me up with some footwork and i hit the back of the net with a classic blended on top - pic from another Taste of 96 over the summer - first time outside of Europe with Nicole in NYC - closing out @alphabetbrighton after @cocomaria___ for the Offie Mag Long Hot Summer II, a great time and nice to play records out - lovely snap from @sakarimjee and @radapatycarla lovely wedding - first ever rewind on a boat (Dizzee Rascal acapella over a chopped MJ grime edit) - BIG BIG HANGOVER BRUNCH. the Hashageddon from now sadly defunct Joe’s Cafe in Brighton - very fun gig back in January with @intervals.ldn - bedroom blend video i never actually posted - always an honour and pleasure to play a @balkanlondoncollective party - outrageous Monster lineup - the flattest brioche of all time 2025 also first year since 2019 completely free of either a global pandemic or seriously unpleasant operations (or both šŸ˜›) which is mad when I recently put it like that to myself not to say i didn’t have great times in those years! but it was cathartic and nice to realise. here’s to a fantastic 2026 and beyond, may all our dreams come true šŸ»

honoured to be closing after the legendary @cocomaria___ tomorrow night at @alphabetbrighton alongside @mrbongoworldwide and @shadrackkm ! been looking forward to this one for ages šŸ» it’s the final leg of the @offlicencemagazine Long Hot Summer II tour, it’s fully sold out (other than a fingerful of tickets on the door), it’s at one of my favorite venues ever Alphabet… truly what is there not to love?? taken a bit of a step back from music and DJing this year but digging for this gig has given me newfound inspiration I can’t wait to carry forwards! it’s a wonderful feeling getting reacquainted with your record collection, found several tunes I hadn’t even properly noticed and some absolute rip-roaring piano/sax/synth solos šŸŽ¹šŸŽ· swipe for a selection in my bag for tomorrow, journeying from soukous to jazz house garage and beyond šŸŒŽšŸŒšŸŒ šŸ“ø @nicoleham1
