Ok back to
@kingultramegaofficial . Yesterday we released our 5th single, âPreaching the End of the Worldâ from
@chriscornellofficial âs debut solo album, Euphoria Morning. This song was a pure labor of love from recording my bass to producing this massive track. There is a LOT going on, so listen closely with good speakers or quality headphones. Your shitty iPhone speaker wont cut it.
Thank you to
@petethornguitarist @thornicus @kennyaronoff @davekerzner &
@frankmitaritonna for trusting my vision on this song.
This song (well, the entire Euphoria Morning album) always reminded me of late 60âs The Beatles writing/recordings/productions. In my opinion, that era was the Beatles in their writing & recording peak⊠in turn, if you listen to Soundgardenâs last album (before they disbanded in the 90âs) âDown on the Upsideâ you can hear sprinkles of that late 60âs Beatle vibe, along with elements of what would become Chrisâ first solo album and where he was headed as a songwriter.
A few short years later, enter his debut solo album âEuphoria Morningâ and âPreaching the End of the Worldâ, is in my opinion, the perfect song. It all correlates, at least in my mind. I was fortunate enough to see Chris live many times with
@soundgarden ,
@audioslaveofficial ,
@templeofthedog and his various solo bands starting way back in the mid-90âs, but hands down one of my favorite live shows of his was seeing him at the old Vanderbilt club on Long Island in support of the Euphoria Morning record. That record came out Sept of 1999, the ensuing tour happened late 99 and into 2000. This particular show was almost 26 years ago to the day (Feb 24, 2000). Seeing this live for the first time was epic. I still have the ticket stub (second photo)!
When I choose this particular song to record for King Ultramega, I had the Beatles in my brain and knew I wanted to cover a song off âEuphoria Morningâ. This record is brilliant in terms of songwriting, lyrical composition, instrumentation and production. I tried to honor all of what I think makes this record so good within our rendition not only instrumentation wise, but production wise as well.
