Another from my series, Echo Chamber. Playing with literal “smoke and mirrors” and exploring the illusory echo chambers people find themselves in, in an online world of information overload. Getting the right balance of ripples and smoke, whilst trying to keep everything in place was quite a challenge but am thrilled with the results, I also had a few nice and bizarre outtakes which I’ll share later, or maybe they’ll be a part of the project. We’ll see!

I’ve been spending time in the studio working on a new series, Echo Chamber. Playing with literal “smoke and mirrors” and exploring the illusory echo chambers people find themselves in, in an online world of information overload. Let me know if you can spot the skull. An ominous, but fitting, happy accident!

I spent a 6 days hiking the gorgeous Overland Track with my friend @jakwalena . On day two, after a day of walking and an icy cold swim at Lake Windermere, the fog rolled in. I headed back out to capture a few quiet moments and “re-see” everything in a new light. I’ve shared a few more favourite moments from the hike in my stories.

Due to the current bushfires in Western Tasmania, where my friend Henry and I had planned to hike the Overland Track, we instead had a sudden change of plans and embarked along the Great Ocean Walk on the Victorian southwestern coast. My last day of hiking was an epic one, with the trail running over the clifftops, through rainforest and down onto beaches. I ended the trip with stunning views from camp and an unruly ocean below that tried to eat me alive. I’ve shared a few other favourites from the trip in my stories.

I finally developed a bunch of film from a second hand point and shoot I picked up in Japan. I love all these little moments from the last few months of picnics, food and some bts shots at the studio.

I felt extremely honoured to have an old friend @LarsWannop ask me to photograph him at the studio earlier this year. As an art director with a genuine curiosity for all things creative and beyond, he was such a pleasure to collaborate with in creating a portrait that would represent him best. He had sent me a reference of an image from my “Echo Chamber” series (previous post) and wanted to incorporate a “light playfulness”, with the idea incorporate subtle details to further prompt a curiosity about who he is. We actually ended up including some of the same flowers and some smoke as a throwback to the original reference. Check out some of his personal work and details of his upcoming exhibition on his profile: @LarsWannop

Another day of 🍩 new cases, congrats Melbourne! Keep doing what you’re doing and look after each other. I’m looking forward to a rewarding summer of separate picnic blankets and friends. ☀️ (and hopefully plenty more donuts)

I’ve got a new print! Available through @onefineprint , who’s been taking us on a virtual trip to countries photographed by their artists. The latest being my home land, Japan. I miss it so much right now. Stay safe everyone!

I’ve been taking a little break in Hawaii and I think I’ve just seen my future self in this legend. Strolling down the beach with a puppy in one arm and a poke bowl in the other. I can’t wait to be you. 🤙
