I need to solve this!! (And also my haircut, I know) Maybe because of my job, I generally don’t like hard ceiling light. And I have an extra @ikea paper lantern not in use. So I give it a try! The result wins my heart so bad! Just fit the vibe~

This is my first attempt at making the bench I always had in my mind. I call it Arch Block Bench, 木墩座. Structurally simple, with curved edges and a dark woody tone, everything I like put together. Unexpectedly, this thing is very heavy. That’s where the “Block 墩” in the name comes from. But somehow putting heaviness into a chair makes you feel very grounded and calm when sitting on it. It’s like sitting on a big rock in nature. So solid you stop noticing it. Compared to all the IKEA furniture I built and used, this feels very weird to have in a home, in a good way. Hard to describe. The heaviness comes from the fact that this bench contains seven 2x4x8 SPF studs, about 100+ screws, and a significant amount of wood glue. This makes it almost indestructible even though the joints are very simple, as shown in the video. I’m already excited to try this design again with more complex joinery. As the world feels like it is running faster and more chaotic, somehow slowing myself down, chiseling and shaping the wood feels very rewarding and satisfying. As a newbie to woodworking, I’m glad I gave it a try. A habit I never thought I would encounter. But everything new comes with learning obstacles. Here are some mistakes I made. 1. Wood bends and twists. I should trim and plane every piece before glue up. Chiseling and planing the whole piece after assembly is next level difficult and something I should simply avoid. 2. Wipe off squeezed out glue before it becomes dry and hard. 3. Don’t apply poly too early. Even if the stain feels dry to the touch. If you want a smooth finish without blotchy colors, waiting overnight is absolutely worth it.

How did we recreate this vehicle shot 🛻 but indoors? Using the Sony FX3 and a bit of movie magic! This is our story of joining the Sony Music Video Motion Challenge in the ShotDeck Recreations Contest 2025, recreating this beautiful zoom-out shot from the music video “Grow Wings and Fly” by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Huge thanks to @shotdeck and @sonycine for providing such inspiring opportunities for filmmakers like us to keep creating! This is how we recreated this shot from “Grow Wings and Fly” by @kinggizzard King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard for the @sonycine Music Motion Video Challenge in the @shotdeck Recreation Contest 2025! Huge shoutout first to my “infected” brother @bulutographer for coming out to the land and making it to the set🧟 1. Special Makeup @beauty.by.brookezoe sculpted the prosthetic with monster clay, molded in silicone, then cast in bondo. The result blew us away! 2. Camera Move We asked cinematographer @marcusjgc (who shot the original) and he was so kind to shared his insights. It was shot with an Angénieux HR 25–250mm with a +3 diopter, zooming end to end. After checking the wallets, we adapted with a Sigma 28–105mm on the Sony FX3 in Super 35 mode, adding a slider to match the feel. 3. Car Ride Feeling Outdoors was not possible, so we placed the platform on a trampoline indoors. Strange at first but surprisingly effective. We stole the biggest TV we could find from friends to display tress passing by video on the background. Life Advice: be aware of filming friends. 4. Lighting 1️⃣ Projector on an 8x8 ultrabounce for skylight and grading reference 2️⃣ DIY mirror reflector + @aputure 600x for steady key 3️⃣ @aputure 60x through spinning bike wheels with branches for sun flicker 4️⃣ Soft overhead fill to balance the nature outdoor feel One week of prep, a full day rigging, and half a day shooting, and the shot came alive. Could not have done it without this team! Cheers everyone! Thank you! @bulutographer @beauty.by.brookezoe @gracen_07 @ray.pnk @maxxlai_ouo @sasha.fatsevych @marcusjgc @anthony_hxr @fiorenza.ji @gawain.jing @twrcaxcy929 @sam.zeh @percy_shen @marklinotes @if_film_crew #Recreations2025 #shotdeck #sonyfx3 #cinematography #behindthescenes
