Over a year in the making, this chair is one of my favorite works ever because it was a collaboration with my friends @jackcraigstudio and @dale.hardiman . It’s now on view at @usefulobjectsgallery in Melbourne, Australia for Melbourne Design Week.
For those unfamiliar, Jack’s practice uses unconventional materials to propose improvised situations. Dale and I were given one of his open-ended “molded carpet” explorations (the colorful blob on the corner) and asked where it might have come from. Like archaeologists reconstructing a long-buried skull, we developed a visual and material language in response to the form Jack provided and reconstructed something that may never have existed.
The chair was made and funded through @guykeulemans and @trentjansenstudio ongoing project titled “Transformative Repair”, which asks designers and makers to rework broken or obsolete objects, transforming not just their form but their cultural value.
I’m very excited to announce new work for @jonald.dudd and @thefutureperfect - the Rite Lite is on view by appointment as a part of the exhibition “Dudd Lite” at The Future Perfect’s West Village gallery from May 14 - June 25.

I had a great time yesterday talking about my practice, seeing some really amazing work, and making new friends. Huge thanks to @kdbiel and @patronmag for hosting me. If you’re in the Dallas area, KD BIEL is a no-brainer.

Dineen was mostly raised in the agricultural communities of northern Illinois. As the son of a carpenter, craft and construction have long been at the front of his mind. Working in the fields, factories, and construction sites of the Midwest greatly inform his perspective on art and design today.

While born in a small city outside of Chicago, Dineen was mostly raised in the agricultural communities of northern Illinois. As the son of a carpenter, craft and construction have long been at the front of his mind. Working in the fields, factories, and construction sites of the Midwest greatly inform his perspective on art and design today.
His studio practice explores the plural nature of our material vernacular and its cross sections with craft, manufacturing, domesticity, and landscape. The form of his work varies to include furniture, drawing, painting, sculpture and land art. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally for over a decade.
