This first 5 months of training has been incredible. I’ve been working on gaining muscle through 4 strength training days per week and keeping my high intensity cardiovascular sessions at 2 days per week, rather than the 4 days I was doing all of 2025. I wasn’t getting burned out, I wasn’t eating enough calories or getting enough sleep to fuel my efforts.
So I altered my training splits, increased my daily calorie intake, and added an hour of sleep each night. It’s been the perfect recipe for muscle, strength, and stamina gains.
Training is important.
Nutrition is more important.
Sleep is most important.
Determination and consistency will give you a massive advantage in achieving your best performance.

Being a fitness & human performance coach is my obsession. One thing I’ve learned about the fitness industry is that it doesn’t matter how smart you are, how many degrees you have, or how much science you can speak on.
If your client doesn’t look at you and feel motivated, inspired, confident, and trust your leadership... all of that other stuff is pointless.
People don’t just buy information.
They invest in belief.
They invest in your energy.
They invest in your knowledge.
They invest in your experience.
They buy into the example you set every single day.
That’s why I’ve never believed in asking an athlete to do something I haven’t done myself.
One of the worst things a coach can be is a simple hype man or a yes man to his client.
Of course it’s important to acknowledge when things are going well and the body is functioning properly. But you also have to be willing and able to clearly articulate what’s not working and how we fix it.
You have to push back when they don’t want to do the things they may not be good at. You have to be comfortable making them uncomfortable when it’s necessary for growth.
They should always have a clear understanding of what the path forward looks like to truly optimize their efforts.

For years, I’ve made one of the most important components of my fitness journey and work as a coach visible so there were zero excuses for me being out of shape. Some feel a strong resume and education are enough to make a high-level coach and trainer. But I believe that self discipline and effort others can see on a daily basis is most important.
The same discipline I ask from my clients has to be reflected in me.
Credibility matters.
I’m 46 years old and I’m committed to always working on getting in the best shape of my life.
Not for vanity. For leadership. For myself and others.
Because the standard you set is the standard you attract.

Not true. I changed my life at 13 and have never looked back. I relentlessly try to outwork my ability and self doubt each day. I purposely try to do things daily that surprise me. I used to tell myself over and over in high school football two-a-days “no one will physically outwork me, ever” it’s what helped me develop my motor for never giving up and I’ve never abandoned it.
Maybe your life changing moment is right around the corner. You have to make up your mind and decide who you want to be in life. No one will do it for you. Be your own hero.

One arm row 2 x 10, then 1 x 5 super slow
Seated Cable Row 2 x 10, then 1 x 5 super slow
Standing dual dumbbell row 2 x 12, then 1 x 6 super slow
Focus was slow + controlled reps. ✅
