Almost every day
I swim 1000 meters in this fantastic 50-meter outdoor pool. I can’t think of better exercise. In the water, I feel free. Keep moving and stay active people! 🏊♂️💪🧡🎗️
I went for another walk around the block this morning. 600 meters. 💪
That’s all the exercise I’m getting today.
I need to learn to take it easy and not overdo it. A short walk is better than doing nothing. Keep moving and stay active, guys, but know your limits. 🧡🎗️
Great exercise from @themsgym I also have a lot of weakness in my thigh muscles, and if you do these exercises regularly, you’ll strengthen your muscles so you don’t hyperextend your knee or let your knees buckle. Follow @themsgym for more tips. His tips are often very helpful to me.
Hi everyone, 👋
I noticed I’ve got a bunch of new followers 🥰
So I’ll introduce myself again for the newcomers.
My name is Mark, and I was diagnosed with primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS) in 2005.
It started with a foot drop, and then more and more symptoms gradually appeared. Too many to list right now. 😅
Despite all the challenges that MS brings, I try to stay positive and focus on the things that make me happy.
Focus on the things you can still do instead of the things you can’t, and stay positive. Swimming makes me happy, so I’m in the pool regularly, and that’s good for my body and my mind.
I’m out and about a lot with my sweet dog Tessel, and I’m happily married to my lovely husband @helvsmit
Oh, and that outfit I’m wearing in the photo is the Magic Suit the #exopulsesuit from @ottobock
Now you know a little more about me. 🧡🎗️
This is me in my backyard after hanging up the laundry. I sat down for a bit after hanging it up, but it was too hot in the sun, so I had to go back inside. As you can see, I had to drag myself forward. I could barely walk anymore. Lately, I’ve had the feeling that the progression of my primary “progressive” multiple sclerosis is getting worse. It probably also has something to do with the 2 km I swam yesterday and the heat. 😅
I have a new wheelchair. Because of the ataxia in my left arm, it’s hard to use a regular wheelchair (start of the video). This new wheelchair has both push rims on one side. If you grip both, you go straight ahead, and if you grip just one, you turn left or right. I practiced for an hour on the basketball court, and I have to say it’s still pretty hard, but we’ll get there.😅
