"These paintings are watchers. Snapshots made in the uncanny moments of recollection, where gravity re-engages and the automatic behaviours of the body find themselves mirrored in their environment. Notice your tongue in your mouth. Pictured are common places, but more than that, they are so familiar as to be assumed. Themselves cluttered and painted with the ephemera of automatic activity, its sediment concentrated in the cracks and snags, they are backdrops, scenery made by and of the mechanism of life's activity."

"This work resembles a small, upright suitcase opened into memory. Two gently curling panels are joined by a metal hinge: above, the rhythm of a ceiling; below, the patterned warmth of a floor. The wood gives it body and weight, while the hinge suggests something portable, private, and repeatedly opened.
