We interviewed Berlin based artist @mariusglauer whose work is combining photography with processes of sculpturing and painting. Go read it on our Website (link in bio). „Anyway, that’s when my work with these materials slowly began. It became clear that I work more like a painter or a sculptor, not like a classic photographer looking for the image, the moments with people. As soon as the person is in the picture, everything revolves around them.“ Our monograph, published in 2021, provides an overview of Glauer’s experimental work. — 📚Marius Glauer Edited by: Christian Ganzenberg Texts: Clara Brender, Simon Elson, Christian Ganzenberg, Lydia Korndörfer, Josephine Pryde, Gernot Seeliger, Stephen A. 🦪🧡 In his first solo exhibition in Austria, @mariusglauer presents a body of work that expands the medium of photography. His images appear as sculptural objects: glossy, iridescent, often large-format. They oscillate between abstraction and figuration, between precision and illusion. The exhibition “Wait a Minute” brings together works from recent years as well as new environments conceived for the spaces of the Francisco Carolinum. Glauer creates a visual language that is both analytical and sensual – a reflection on surface, material and the role of images today. ⏳ “Wait a Minute” – a phrase we use to interrupt, to slow down, to shift focus. In @mariusglauer ’s exhibition, this expression becomes a framework for thinking about time and perception. The installation functions as a spatial image: reflective, layered, in motion. Glauer’s works condense different temporalities – the moment of the photographic exposure, the duration of the creative process, and the evolving gaze of the viewer. What does it mean to pause – and what becomes visible when we do? 💫 Curated by @susannewatzenboeck 📍Francisco Carolinum Linz, UNESCO City of Media Arts 📅 14.03.25 - 27.07.25 📸 (1, 4-6) @mariusglauer (2-3) @yannickschuette / @timtobiaszimmermann

🧡 @mariusglauer , born 1983 in Oslo, lives and works in Berlin and Oslo. His artistic practice explores the material and temporal dimensions of photography. Glauer's work operates at the intersection of image, object and surface. He combines photographic techniques with sculptural and installative elements and references to fashion and pop culture. In doing so, he questions the boundaries of the medium and expands its possibilities. ⌛️ “Wait a Minute” is his first solo exhibition in Austria and presents both earlier works and new series developed specifically for the Francisco Carolinum. On view until July 27! 📽 Part two of our video series of @mariusglauer 's exhibition "Wait a Minute". ➡️ His work revolves around the question of how photography can operate across genres by combining painterly, sculptural, installative and performative elements. The show provides an insight into the artist's experimental work of the past decades and also presents new series and environments conceived and realized for the Francisco Carolinum. 📍Francisco Carolinum Linz, UNESCO City of Media Arts 📅 14.03.25 - 27.07.25 Video Editing: @nikki_powell_ Music: @dvs1hush Track: “Alpha Theta“ - DVS1 (Axis Records) Album: Beta Sensory Motor Rhythm (ASD013) Released: February 22, 2021

Marius Glauer at EIGEN + ART Lab @mariusglauer On view until this Saturday, May 31, 2025 “At the same time, Glauer engages new possibilities of spatial presentation. He puts seashell’s c-print in a showcase, dangles photographed as tubes from the ceiling, and lets larges panels float into the room: part photograph, part photographic sculpture, part installation.” Excerpt from the press release. An essential aspect of Marius Glauer's artistic practice is his engagement with the spatial situation in which he shows and installs his photographic works. 🧡 In this sense, the second room of his exhibition, "Wait a Minute," is characterized by the expansive work Miralago Black Buren, which refers to a real location where fragments of this work were photographed. As the most expansive piece in the exhibition - measuring 20 meters in length and 4 meters in height - it asserts itself as a spatial intervention. It transforms the most delicate element—a rose blossom—into the exhibition's dominant motif. The work traverses the room like a luminous force, evoking the trajectory of a UFO or the trail of a blazing jet, collapsing scale and perception into a single, immersive gesture." On May 15, @mariusglauer ’s exhibition opened at @eigenart_lab in Berlin as an extension of the solo show WAIT A MINUTE currently on view at Francisco Carolinum in Linz (through July 27). 📖 As part of the Berlin presentation, the exhibition catalog from Linz was presented on May 17. The event featured an artist talk with Marius Glauer in conversation with art historian Nils Emmerichs (@________nils ), curator Charlotte Sarrazin (@charlotte_sarz ), and curator Susanne Watzenboeck (@susannewatzenboeck ). The Berlin show highlighted Glauer’s continued exploration of the transformation of photographic images. His motifs—floating seashells, glowing photograms, poppy flowers on lenticular foil—were presented in new spatial forms: photographs turned into sculptural objects, suspended from the ceiling, or placed in showcases. Works were positioned close together, creating a space of interaction, tension, and transformation. 📅 Exhibition runs until May 31, 2025
