I finally did it. I loc’d my hair and I am ecstatic. It took two days 8:30am-6:00pm to install this size Microlocs on bra strap length hair. I was worried it would be boneless, I was worried it would shrink way too much, and I was worried about my layers. And guess what? I worry too much. It’s perfect 😍

I’ve been going back and forth with my hair for longer than I care to admit. The last time I felt this way, I shaved it all off. Yes, you read that right! The truth is, I’ve never been a big fan doing my hair. It’s gorgeous when it’s done, but I just can’t keep up with the maintenance Every. Single. Week.

If you’re thinking about getting microlocs, I recommend watching millions of videos and asking as many questions as possible during your consultation. I watched a video this week of someone crying bc all of their locs had fallen out. They didn’t ask any of the necessary questions. Some things to consider:

Which locs would be best for me and my hair (traditional, micro, sister?)
What is slippage?
What is bunching?
How long will they be boneless?
How do I keep them moisturized?
How much are reties?
I work out often. How do I workout in my starter locs?
And so on!

I’ll post pictures after they are done! Because I want them installed on mid back/bra strap hair it will take me two days and cost a very pretty penny. She can have all of my pennies—just make sure I’m cute during the zombie apocalypse! 🧟♀️

1 year microloc retie!
This was the first time I waited 9 weeks to get a retie and really felt like I needed one. It’s always amazing how the parts almost disappear, but the grid always comes back!

My locs started out long and skinny, then they got SHORT and fluffy, and now they are longish and fluffy.

I also looked back at my photos and realized it was definitely me — I was the problem. I was strangling those locs from the day they were installed.
Don’t be me. Pay attention to the locs that may be more delicate.

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to make it look like a waterfall puff, but my microlocs have so much volume right now that I think I pulled it off!
Am I going to be able to keep the volume? Or does it go “flat” the longer you're loc’d?

It was CYUTTEE 💕 It was easy too. Just three buns, two hair-ties each. The first hair-tie to make the bun and the second to clean up any stragglers.
