Mario Garcia is a Phoenix-born multidisciplinary artist, rooted in community, collaboration, and cultural expression. Raised in a deeply musical family and inspired by his grandfather’s 65+ years as a working musician in the Valley, he developed his craft independently, teaching himself piano at 12 and guitar at 13. Grounded in jazz, funk, soul, and R&B, he approaches music as a composer first, guided by feel, intention, and the influence of the pioneers who shaped modern sound.
Since 2019, he has performed professionally across Arizona while working in live sound engineering, helping artists bring their ideas to life on stage and behind the scenes. With experience producing concerts, festivals, gallery exhibitions and community events through venue management, his work is grounded in service; creating meaningful sonic experiences, sharing joy, and connecting people through art and sound.
A multi-generational Phoenix native, Mario is deeply connected to the desert landscape, often performing and rehearsing outdoors where the openness mirrors his unconfined, grounded approach. Through his art and music, he honors lineage, place, and cultural memory while contributing to the evolving identity of Phoenix as a cultural ambassador.
In parallel, he has worked as a professional visual artist and muralist since 2018, with work shown across Arizona, including a featured gallery at the Phoenix Art Museum in 2019, and a TEDx performance in 2020. He works full-time across both disciplines as a musician and muralist, collaborating with municipalities including City of Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, and Goodyear. He has also taught art through Arizona State University, the Phoenix Art Museum, and private instruction.
Grateful for the way his home state has embraced his passions, Mario remains committed to giving back through both sound and visual art.
