Check out my latest screen print for #moonsrecords. I have been back in the print studio after about a five year hiatus! I find screen printing to be super gratifying because after you finish your design and burn the screen you get to duplicate your design on different things and use many different coloured inks. Every time you lift the screen it feels like you completed something, it’s that good kind of dopamine hit! I used metallic gold ink for this one on a charcoal Comfort Colours crop T-shirt. ✨💛✨ these are available at the record shop, online or in store!
Thought I would do a little demo on how to wear the Leaf ear jackets. These are my favourite wear almost anywhere earrings, from a chill Sunday outing, a night out in the town, to a day at the beach. These can be worn with or without the gold leaf jacket, but the gold really does add an understated elegance that is just exactly what I’m always looking for in my adornments if I don’t say so myself!

The book The Human Cosmos: Civilization and The Stars by Jo Marchant explains how the sky above us has shaped our existence here on Earth just by our consistent observation of it. When I look at the Moon a sense of calm comes over me. I can’t help but think about how if the cosmos were not organized in such a way, we wouldn’t even exist. It’s like this has all been made for us, each and every one of us. I highly recommend this book if you’re even slightly interested in gazing at the night sky…or just want to be reminded of how amazing it all really is…just like everything in general. ✨🌕✨

It’s getting very festive in the shop and once again I am doing all the jewelry making now rather than in the slower months. Running a retail business while also making product for that business is intense at this time of year and it is reminding me that slow and steady wins the race. Making things out of metal using fire and adding gems is beyond satisfying. Who doesn’t want to play with fire and melt things? Am I right? There is this technique in jewelry making where you make a tiny sculpture out of wax. Remember playing with melting candle wax?! Isn’t that just the most calming thing you can do with your time?! There is just something about it…anyhow….You basically make a sculpture from the wax by either carving or melting it, or both, and then pack a sand like substance tightly around the sculpture. Then you melt the wax and it flows out this tunnel in the sand, then you pour melted metal to the empty mold where the wax was! I have never done this, but I can’t until I get the chance! These earrings; however, were made using only a saw, a hammer and fire. They have a bronze back plate, a gold fill bezel, brass fringe and the prettiest triangle faceted Moonstone. They feel light and delicate, and they are the perfect earrings to add a little sparkle to your holiday get up. ✨✨✨
There’s been a lot of social things going on, like parties and gatherings, which I tend to want to opted out of, but I usually force myself to get out there and see what everyone is up to in real life. Social medja is not telling us the truth of what is really going on. It’s small little snippets and it’s just not the whole picture, but here’s a little peak into my Sunday so far. I got my nails done, which was definitely a highlight! This is something I rarely do, but it’s my birthday on Friday so I’m starting to celebrate today because I guess you could say Sunday is the beginning of my birthday week! 🥳
