During the last two weeks of 2025, I'm highlighting some of the wonderful stories I've gotten to cover thanks to retainer clients. Retainers offer a way to collaborate more closely and regularly with my clients. Here's some of the work I did with @pennmedicine editorial.
The pictures you see above feature:
1-2. A trip to the helipad to meet some of @pennmedicine 's medevacs.
3-4. A portrait series about Deb Burnham, a retired English teacher and cancer survivor who leads cancer support groups.
5-7. A close look at mRNA research
8. A day at @doylestownhealth with volunteers who keep the hospital afloat
9-10. A day with a patient who received one of the world's first double-hand transplants.
I covered a lot of stories about research and science within the healthcare network at Penn. In the midst of receiving an autoimmune diagnosis myself, (which has a way of leaving one feeling untethered and confused), I was thankful to gain a deeper understanding of what goes into research and guides our healthcare. More importantly, it was an honor to meet and learn from the people who make it all happen. Thank you and happy holidays to the Penn Medicine editorial staff. Your organization and collaboration has led to some extremely rewarding work!
Stacy Leung is a long-timeMuay Thai athlete and two-time cancer survivor who lives in Philadelphia. I photographed Leung for CURE Magazine, a publication shared in waiting rooms and doctors offices to inspire hope for cancer patients across the country.
Leung first battled cancer when she was 23 years old, and again in 2023. The story published this week. You can read it via CURE /.
Pennsylvania Hospital was the first hospital in the nation, and it quickly became a leader in mental health research. Today, the hospital has become a museum, which has an entire room dedicated to psychology history. These photos were made during a neurosurgical procedure which examined the use of electrodes in the brain to help treat OCD. This is as part of the hospital’s story and you can learn more in the museum itself. Shot for Penn Medicine.
Deb Burnham is a retired English professor and leader of a cancer support group at @pennmedicine . In a recent piece, which I photographed for Penn Medicine Magazine, Burnham describes her experience as a cancer survivor, and the way many reluctant-to-participate patients are able to heal through writing in her group.
The photography industry has a slow season early in the year, and it can be stressful. So, instead of dwelling during the slowness in early 2025, I set out with a list of business and creativity goals. I started the year by playing with light and working with people who inspired me (@alexandracooreman_violinist , @joeedelman@lorasherroddmusic ) to further develop a creative style.
It's been an unusually stressful year outside of work, but thanks to those first few months of growth, I still garnered new clients (@pahumanities@wsj@publicrightsproject ) and continued a great relationship with those from the past ( @ursinuscollege@curtisinstitute@drexeluniv@philorch ). It was possible thanks to the help and expertise of colleagues @erinblewett and @allieipp , among others. I also had some clients on retainer (@pennmedicine and @stagestep ), which led to consistency in visual branding and the ability to get creative at a much deeper level. I've highlighted my work with them in the past two weeks.
Photography in 2025 has been nothing short of invigorating, and I am so very thankful to continue working alongside clients who I now refer to as friends.
Today, I'm sharing a year in review including some of my favorite work this year. Happy new year to all! See you in 2026.

During the last two weeks of 2025, I'll highlight some of the wonderful stories I've gotten to cover thanks to those retainer clients.
The first is a subsidiary of international flooring company, @gerflorusa . @stagestep does all things dance flooring - boards, knives, tape, cleaner, etc. But between photographing the products is a lot of time spent with dancers themselves. I've been lucky to work with students at @philadanceacademy and @icondancecomplex , and professionals like the @quiner_sisters , @geohubela and @carinadior_ Witnessing their talent is nothing short of a privilege.
Happy end of 2025, @stagestep ! Thank you for a wonderful year and beautiful experiences.
