The first time I got baptised I was like 8 I wasn’t forced. It was a choice but I made that choice more out of influence from family than free will.
At 25 my rededication to Christ now comes at a time when I spent more than half of 2024 mad at God. Mad because I didn’t feel like things were going my way with my business and career, mad because I relied so much on my own timing and thought I should be farther along instead of accepting his will., mad because my back was against the wall and I felt like my prayers weren’t getting answered. I lost my part time photography job at a publication and applied to jobs all last year. I almost lost my mind.
1 Peter 3:15 says, “Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.”
I want people to look at my life and career and see that it was God behind the scenes the whole time. Not because of my work ethic, not because of how talented I am, not because of how many degrees I have, not because of who I know in the industry, not because I was qualified, but because God wanted me to be in that room and hand picked my path just for me. It never mattered who was against me cause God was always for me.
Amen 🙏🏾
This month I had the honor of capturing @jazzonthevineyard 13th annual fundraiser. This experience really was a testament to trusting God and his timing.
It was already a lot to plan and be there last minute but something in my spirit told me I needed to be there so I made it happen. When I got to Boston Logan airport I missed my bus and had to take a 2 hr Uber to the ferry.
When I finally made it to the vineyard everything started to fall into place. I felt safe , the island was beautiful, and there was so much black history and culture there that I had no idea about before going and seeing it for myself.
The day of the event I had no idea who the distinguished guest were. I was told 10 minutes before the show started that the reason it was delayed is because the Obamas were on the way so I had to lock in. Governors Wes Moore, and Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown came too.
Growing up I sang for @wpadc gospel choir and had the opportunity to sing at both of @barackobama Inauguration’s in DC. So having the chance to be in his presence again as a creative was another confirmation for me and full circle moment fasho.
After the show I had to cop @samarajoysings vinyl and get it signed. Hearing her live with the Obamas was amazing made me a fan, can’t wait to see what she does next. Thank you again to the @jazzonthevineyard for trusting me to capture this experience and see y’all next year!
Pictures will be posted to @mvproductions__ 🙏🏾
