Rodney Eggleston of March Studio introduces The Factory of Light, a sophisticated exploration of tactile depth and material permanence at the Chiostro di Santa Maria del Carmine. The installation is wrapped in the textured warmth of salvaged trompe-l’œil tarpaulins, where 10,826 repurposed amber bottles create a topographic landscape that reflects a rhythmic interplay of light and shadow. By integrating industrial grit with a historic ecclesiastical backdrop, the structure harmonizes with the Milanese landscape while staging a sensory journey for the launch of Aesop’s Aposē lamp collection. Inside, the atmosphere is one of serene reduction. The choreography of the workshop is revealed through mouth-blown glass crowns and hand-cast brass bases, punctuated by the metallic scents of a factory floor that give way to aromatic oil blends. In the sacristy, the architects have reclaimed the historic volume of the wood-paneled room to create an undulating amber sea, turning salvaged materials into a functional, contemplative void. From the rhythmic rotation of mechanical lathes to the intense heat of Venetian glass-blowing, every detail prioritizes a seamless connection between human craft and the domestic ritual. via #urdesignmag architects @march_studio for @aesop images @ludovicbalay #MarchStudio #Aesop #MilanDesignWeek #MDW2026 #SustainableDesign

Oddy’s Green is an ambitious urban renewal project that rewilds Cremorne and reimagines the workplace. Spanning over 2,500 square metres of underused space between two large office buildings, it offers varied environments for recreation, rest and informal connection. March Studio assembled a collaborative team to deliver the project—bringing together landscape architects OCULUS, artist Reko Rennie, and builders Maben. Located behind the former Richmond Power Station, the site has been transformed into a new public park featuring a multi-purpose lawn, native gardens, informal seating, a basketball half-court, and a soccer goal. More than just an uplift for office workers, the park invites broader community use in a neighbourhood historically lacking green public space. By linking Church Street to the east and Green Street to the west, the project improves access and pedestrian flow through an area long dominated by cars and cut off from public surveillance. A white steel arbour, drawn from the grid of the surrounding 1990s office buildings, acts as a connective element across the site. Deliberately fragmented—part-built or part-eroded—it hints at a decaying structure now being reclaimed by nature. Over time, the framework will become a dense canopy of native climbers, softening the site’s corporate edges and fostering a wild, biodiverse environment. Bees, birds, and native plants will animate the space, offering shade, habitat and sensory delight. The arbour also defines a series of open-air rooms and integrates lighting for use into the evening. Photos by @peterbbennetts @oculusstudios @rekorennie @maben_group
