A cool new projection-mapping experience is coming to this year’s Chinook Blast ✨ Crystal Wishes by MAPPERZ is an interactive projection installation that invites you to pause, reflect, and make a wish at a larger-than-life wishing well. Speak from the heart and watch as projections, created by local artists, respond to your voice in real time. Created by MAPPERZ, a prairie-based projection mapping collective, this installation brings together eight local artists to create an immersive, standalone experience. Since 2022, MAPPERZ has been connecting media artists through workshops, meetups, and creative collaboration. #chinookblast #calgary #yyc

Did you see our artist call but don’t know how to make audioreactive art? FEAR NOT! In preparation for CRYSTAL WISHES, MAPPERZ is hosting a workshop for sound reactive visualization in @touchdesigner with the legendary @cadsies ! With support from @chinookblast and @emmediayyc . Learn how sound data can create exciting visuals with the press of a few buttons and a little bit of code. Tuesday, January 6, 2026, 6-9PM, EMMEDIA Gallery. Bring your own computer with TouchDesigner installed and logged in. Email [email protected] if this is a barrier. NOTE: This workshop only covers sound-reactivity, and a base level knowledge of TouchDesigner is required (e.g. nodes, networks, operators) Max 15 participants! RSVP early and let us know if you end up unable to attend. We are working to schedule an ASL interpreter, please RSVP by December 30 if you require one.

APPLY BY DECEMBER 21! ✨ SOUND ARTIST CALL: we are seeking a sound artist to create an atmospheric soundscape to set the stage for our wishing well. $1000 for 2-5 minutes ✨ VISUAL ARTIST CALL: create a sound-reactive visualization in TouchDesigner that will react to voice input from spoken wishes. $1000 for a sound-reactive TouchDesigner component ✨ MORE INFO AND APPLICATION LINK IN BIO ✨ “Crystal Wishes is a standalone projection structure that invites attendees to rest, reflect and wish aloud their hearts desires at the larger-than-life wishing well. One year ago, @cadsies attended SYNC and met @mapperzyyc . That moment set her on a new path as a visual artist. This year she returns full circle, performing live as a VJ and teaching a workshop on @touchdesigner . Her session explores the foundations of creating visuals that move with sound. You will learn how to separate an audio stream into different channels and use those signals to shape light and motion. Some experience helps, but curiosity is all you need. Cads has become a defining presence in Calgary’s underground rave scene, performing with collectives such as Oscill8, @echolocationsrecords , @byethebridge , @nomee.sc , @nano.remedy , and @missingno_______ . Her work transforms dancefloors into living digital dreamscapes filled with rhythm and color.
