Uma longa trajetória de pesquisa em colagem revisitando as ideias de Hannah Höch e acompanhando reverberações na produção de artistas brasileires hoje. Nesta residência, pude mergulhar novamente nesta investigação sob outros pontos de vista, com mais distância e com novas proximidades. Acessei obras originais, podendo ver detalhes preciosos de colagens históricas ao vivo. Her multifaceted practice encompasses everything from videos and performances to collaborative workshops, as well as the production of illustrations, installations, and murals. It promotes the establishment of networks, working in collaboration with artist groups, institutions, and venues to foster artistic experimentation and social participation. In her sensory installations, Manuela Eichner’s strategy is to occupy and transform artistic spaces through immersive practices, transcending the boundaries of the medium and expanding formats until they merge with the space. Offering a collective experience that challenges the viewer and destabilizes beliefs related to the body, space, and nature. Collage and Feminism: From Hannah Höch to Contemporary Collage 📅 Friday, May 1, 2026 | 1:00 PM 📍 Residency Unlimited, 360 Court Street, Brooklyn, NY As part of our Meet Over Lunch series, please join us for a lecture-performance by São Paulo-based RU curator-in-residence, visual artist, researcher, and educator Manuela Eichner (@manuelaeichner ). At this occasion, Manuela will present the concluding phase of “Quem carrega a Chama? / Who Carries the Flame?” – a project marked by her extensive research on the renowned German artist Hannah Höch (1889–1978), a central figure in the development of collage both as a technique and as a critical approach to questions of gender, politics, and nature. “Quem carrega a Chama? / Who Carries the Flame?” brings together historical and contemporary perspectives, revisiting Höch’s ideas while tracing their resonance in the work of Brazilian artists today. Since 2017, Manuela has been dedicated to investigating the traces left by this pioneer of feminist collage. Trips to Berlin (2018, 2023) allowed her to visit Höch’s home in Heiligensee and access the Estate of Hannah Höch at the Berlinische Galerie; now in New York, she is finalizing her research at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), which holds a foundational collection of Hannah Höch’s work, particularly her influential Dada-era photomontages.
