Just a few of the items planned for our next supper club outing @ochag_bar_grill on May 29: eggplant rolls stuffed with a garlic-walnut cheese mixture; zhingyalov hats, an Armenian flatbread filled with greens and herbs; and jarko, a hearty chicken-potato stew. Click the link in our bio for more info and tickets—we’d love to see you there! And by all means spread the word!

I’ve made this sumac and pomegranate molasses chicken from the Ripe Figs cookbook by @yasminkhanstories before but it’s worth keeping on regular rotation because it’s so easy and so delicious. And once you have the ingredients you can make it over and over again. The marinade has fresh garlic, allspice, Turkish red pepper (although other paprika-like chile powders would work), sumac powder, tomato paste, and pomegranate molasses. I made a little extra and put it on some cabbage wedges too. I wish I’d bought more chicken for leftovers.

@noodlesbynina mushroom crystal dumplings, Sichuan dan dan noodles, tomato and egg knife-sliced noodles (one of the best things I’ve eaten this year), pan-fried dumplings.

I finally tried out this hoja santa tortilla thing I’d seen from Pujol. Just Maseca though, and I toasted the hoja santa side too to tone down the anise flavor a bit. Nice snack before green chile with chochoyotes, which honestly should be on more menus. Simmering them in the green chile thickens the sauce without need for corn starch—and they’re just so satisfying.

Three fun dishes from @chefdougfresh ’s @petitchelou pop-up at @hopalleydenver . There were seven or eight courses all told but I liked these pics. 1. Not pasta: strips of kohlrabi in a celeriac sauce. 2. Squid with crosnes (also known as knotroot). They kind of look like grub worms but have a nice crunch and flavor similar to sunchoke. 3. Quail fried like Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Equally fun pairings from Hop Alley sommelier @lvl3hamsomm too.

In my neighborhood: Lunar New Year celebration hosted by city council district 2 candidate @tranwills with lion dancers and food from @jade_cafe_chinese_restaurant , @eternalflavorsbakery , and the new Sabor Express, which took over the space once occupied by Giuseppe’s Pizza. Anti-ICE demonstration in what has until recently been a fairly conservative area. Goose did not get any brownie.
